2. DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY
Note the following items when performing maintenance of the printer.
Do not disassemble, reassemble, or adjust the printer unnecessarily when the printer operation is
satisfactory.
Do not loosen the screws that fasten the components unless it is absolutely necessary.
After finishing inspection, perform a check to ensure that there is no irregularity before turning on the
printer.
Use caution not to leave any part or screw used for maintenance inside of the printer.
When handling the print head and electronic components, care must be taken to avoid static electricity.
When disassembling or reassembling the printer, check the wires and cords for damage. Do not draw
any wire or cord by force.
Lubricate the components as necessary when reassembling them.

Unscrew and take out 3 screws on the bottom
cover.
Lift up the bottom cover gently from the cut-out portion
by using a flat-head screw driver.
The main board is held by two points with the
body frame. One with a hole and one hook.
Pull up the main board.
Unplug cables.
Unscrew and take off the ESD cable.

Unscrew and take out 3 screws on the bottom
cover.
Lift up the bottom cover gently from the cut-out portion
by using a flat-head screw driver.
The main board is held by two points with the
body frame. One with a hole and one hook.
Pull up the main board.
Unplug cables.
Unscrew and take off the ESD cable.

Lift up the mechanism*. A flat-head screw
driver may help to lever up.
The motor is held by two screws.
Unscrew them and take out the motor.
*The mechanism is held by two hooks on the other side.
Press to release when lifting up the mechanism.

Unscrew and take out 3 screws on the bottom
cover.
Lift up the bottom cover gently from the cut-out portion
by using a flat-head screw driver.
The main board is held by two points with the body
frame. One with a hole and one hook.
Pull up the main board.

Unplug cables.
Unscrew and take off the ESD cable.
Lift up the mechanism*. A flat-head screw driver
may help to lever up.
Take out the e-ring by using a flat-head screw
driver.
Take out the gear.
*The mechanism is held by two hooks on the other side.
Press to release when lifting up the mechanism.

Take out another e-ring, a washer and a bracket.
On the other side, unscrew and take out the ESD cable.
Take out the e-ring and a washer.

Unscrew and take out 3 screws on the bottom
cover.
Lift up the bottom cover gently from the cut-out portion
by using a flat-head screw driver.
The sensor is held by two hooks. Lift up the sensor.

Open the top cover. The LED guide rod and the
button are held by three screws.
Take out the screws and lift up.
In order to reach the FEED switch module, open
the bottom cover.
Lift up the bottom cover gently from the cut-out portion
by using a flat-head screw driver.

Lift up the mechanism*. A flat-head screw
driver may help to lever up.
The FEED switch module is held by two screws.
Take them out and pull up.
*The mechanism is held by two hooks on the other side.
Press to release when lifting up the mechanism.

Open the top cover. The LED guide rod and
the button are held by three screws.
Take out the screws and lift up.
Open the bottom cover.
Lift up the bottom cover gently from the cut-out portion by
using a flat-head screw driver.

The ribbon sensor is held by one screw.
*The mechanism is held by two hooks on the other side.
Press to release when lifting up the mechanism.

*Note that this part does NOT include sensors, the print head or the lower mechanism.
Open the top cover and unscrew to release the
TPH.
Unscrew and take out the ESD cable.
The TPH cover has two hooks on the both
sides. Push them to take out the TPH cover.
Unscrew to release the TPH and unplug the
TPH connector.
Put on gloves and do not touch the TPH with bare hands
when handling.

Note that the connector joint is very soft and
vulnerable. Hold the connector plastic when
handling. Do not touch the head elements by
bare fingers.
Take out the E-ring to release the TPH holder.

Unscrew and take out 3 screws on the bottom
cover.
Lift up the bottom cover gently from the cut-out portion by
using a flat-head screw driver.
The main board is held by two points with the
body frame. One with a hole and one hook.
Pull up the main board.
Unplug all cables from the main PCB.
Unscrew and take off the ESD cable.

Take out the e-rings on the both sides of hinge.
*The mechanism is held by two hooks on the other side.
Press to release when lifting up the mechanism.

Push the spindle from right.
Left side has a bracket.
To completely isolate the SA RIBBON HOLDER SP 321,
cut the cable ties and remove all cables.

Open the top cover and unscrew to release the
TPH.
Unscrew and take out the ESD cable.
The TPH cover has two hooks on the both
sides. Push them to take out the TPH cover.
Unscrew to release the TPH and unplug the
TPH connector.
Put on gloves and do not touch the TPH with bare hands
when handling.

When reassembling the parts, follow the procedure of “1-2 Disassembly Procedure” in reverse.

3. TROUBLESHOOTING
3-1. Error Indication
When an error occurs on the printer, the LED indicates the
status by its color and the way of lighting.
LED Indication Status Description Solution
Media Error
Unable to detect paper. Set the paper properly and run the printer self test.
Out of ribbon or paper. Replace ribbon or paper roll.
1. Paper jam. 2. Wrong media type.
1. Check for and remove any paper or other obstructions. 2. Make sure the media type (label with gap/notch/mark, continuous) specified in the sent data and the actual media type in the printer are matched up.
Setting Error No ribbon is loaded with the thermal transfer mode selected as printing mode.
1. (For TT) Load a ribbon. 2. (For DT) Select the direct thermal mode.
Memory Error
Memory is full. Delete data you no longer need from the printer memory.
File name already exists. Change the name of the file and try storing it to the printer again.
Print Head Error
Print head temperature is too high.
Wait for the print head to cool down to operating temperature. The printer will then switch to standby mode and the LED will stop flashing.
