Good morning Year 2!

This week were going to be writing a nonchronological report on an animal found in India.

A nonchronological report is a nonfiction piece of writing which is full of facts. So before we can write it we need to do some research about some

different animals.

Then on Friday you can pick your favourite animal to write about.

We will look at one animal a day and then write your report on Friday.

Each day you will need to research that animal to find out facts which answer these 3 questions:

1. What does the animal look like?

2. Where does it live/what is it's habitat?

3. What does it eat?

You then need to find at least two other facts that interest you!

Try to be quite specific when you are researching. Instead of just saying ' elephants are big' see if you can find out how big. Can you find measurements?

Use the facts page and YouTube videos to get you started.

You'll be turning the facts from your research into paragraphs. See the example on the next page so

you know what you're aiming for.

Elephant's appearance:Elephants are big animals. They have trunks. They also have tusks.

Elephant's appearance: Elephants are big mammals which can grow up to 3m tall. They have rough, wrinkly skin and short tails. On their faces they have sharp tusks to protect themselves and huge ears to help them hear. Elephants are also well known for having long trunks. These are used for picking things up, gathering food, squirting water and making a trumpeting sound.

Which one is more informative?
