At  the  March  Board  of  Governors  Meeting  the  Property  Acquisition  Committee  gave  a  detailed  report  of  plans  to  construct  a  covered  pavilion  attached  to  the  existing  bathhouse  structure.  John  Shaw  is  working  with  an  engineer  to  complete  a  set  of  plans  that  can  be  presented  to  the  Baldwin  County  Building  Department  as  part  of  the  required  documents  for  a  building  permit.  Initial  plans  are  for  a  36’  X  56’  covered  pavilion.  It  may  be  necessary  to  reduce  the  width  to  32’  if  the  engineer  feels  the  support  structure  requires  it.  The  minutes  with  all  the  details  will  be  posted  to  the  website  as  soon  as  they  are  approved  at  the  April  8  Board  of  Governors  Meeting.

Excitement  is  building  as  we  near  closing  on  the  new  clubhouse  site.  It  looks  as  though  the  process  could  be  completed  later  this  month.  It  will  surely  be  a  monumental  day  for  Point  Yacht  Club  and  I  look  forward  to  reporting  to  the  membership  as  soon  as  it  is  complete.

Ingram Bayou Raft Up a Huge Success! Point Yacht Club hosted a raft up on a beautiful Saturday, March 22 in Ingram's Bayou. We had a mixture of 15 sail boats and power boats that rafted and stayed the evening. Even more folks boated in for the day and enjoyed the beautiful weather! Special thanks to Donnie Fuqua and Mike Graham for the bon fire. A good time was had by all. Everyone is looking forward to the next raft up at Red Fish Point on May 24. We invite all to attend. Kathy Hawkins, Social Committee Chair

Quick  note  from  your  Fleet  Captain,

A  couple  of  long-‐term  dates  to  keep  in  mind:  Dauphin  Island  Race,  April  26th,  several  boats  are  planning  on  sailing  up  together  on  Friday  the  25th.

The  Perdido  Wood  Boat  Association  will  hold  the  Pirates  Cove  Wood  Boat  Festival  May,  2-‐4  at  Pirates  Cove  with  the  Pirates  Ball  held  on  Friday  night,  May  2.

I  have  heard  mention  of  possibly  some  Point  Yacht  Club  boat  possibly  headed  to  Mexico  on  May  7  &  8  for  the  Regatta  al  Sol,  sponsored  by  the  Pensacola  Yacht  Club,  how  cool  is  that??    We  could  always  use  more.

The  FL  120  for  trailerable  sailboats  will  sail  May  14-‐18.  Starting  from  Pensacola  Beach/  Shoreline  Park,  the  cruise  begins  with  a  run  to  Spectre  Island,  the  first  big  island  east  of  Navarre.    Following  overnights  are  Sand  Island,    then  Grassy  Point  at  the  north  end  of  Escambia  Bay.  Usually  about  40  boats  participate.    Full  details  at  Yahoo  Groups/  Fl  120  or  call  Jay  Warthen,  251-‐979-‐2808.
