Logline

What if a detectives imagined ideal woman, is discovered murdered in the real-

world, due to his own negligence.

Synopsis

While at work, Detective Dorian Dayle sees Mave, a beautiful and mysteriouswoman, cross the street.

Then while at a caf, Dorian sees her once again, walking past the window. STATIC SHOTMaves face, beaten and bleeding STATIC While catching a cab in the rain, Dorian bumps into Mave, who asks to share

his cab. He happily obliges.

As Dorian and Mave are talking, their cab suddenly screeches to a halt. Thedriver, Sammy, knocks Dorian out cold and abducts Mave.

Coming to, Dorian finds the driver and Mave gone. He sets out to find her.

Scene 1

A quiet evening on Los Feliz Boulevard Detective Dorian Dayle is seen entering his office and settling down to work. The sound of high heels is heard. Dorian turns to look out the window. A woman (Mave) is seen, walking along the boulevard. Shes a classic beauty. Dorian leans for a closer look. Mave glances up and gasps as she catches

Dorians eye.

Nervously she tucks her hair behind her ear and hurries down the street. Dorians eyes follow her as she leaves, infatuated.

Scene 2

Dorian is seen reading a broadsheet in a smokey, dim caf, a cup of coffee infront of him.

Again there is the sound of high heels and Dorians head snaps up. Coming from behind him, Mave walks past the caf window. His eyes follow her. Perhaps sensing his gaze she begins to turn

Scene 3

Its raining heavily. Dorian is waiting for a cab on a street corner. Noticingone, he puts out his cigarette, and hails the taxi.

As he reaches for the door, we again hear high heels, running this time. We hear her voice calling for Dorian to wait up. He turns, doing a double take as he recognises Mave. She is running towards

him, holding her handbag over her head to protect her from the rain.

She asks to share his cab, and Dorian happily obliges, offering her his coat asshe climbs in.

He goes round to the other door, gets in, and the car drives off.

Scene 4

In the back of the cab, Dorian and Mave begin to talk. As they talk, their attraction for each other is becoming clear. The car suddenly screeches to a halt. Jolted, Dorian leans over to the driver, confronting him. The driver reveals a gun, cracking Dorian across the temple; he slumps down. The gangster, Sammy, leans into the light, taking aim at Mave.

Scene 5

As morning arrives, Dorian comes to in the back of the cab.

Realising Mave and the driver are gone, he sets out to find her.

Scene 6

Sammy is making his way to his apartment door, smirking to himself at hissuccess.

Opening the door he walks in. Dorian is waiting for him. A scuffle ensues, and Dorian emerges as the victor. Holding Sammy aloft, Dorian slams him against the opposing hall wall.

Asking where is she?

Scene 7

Dorian discovers the gangs hideout. He kicks the door down, discovering the tied up Mave. Mave notices, overjoyed! (Camera begins to reveal the edges of the TV)

o Dorian runs to untie her.o STATICo He fumbles with the knots.o STATICo He frees her, and she stands to kiss him.o STATIC to complete cut out.

A deflated, overweight Dorian Dayle is sat in an armchair. His phone rings, nervously he lifts it to his ear. Its Sammy, checking up on their deal. Dorian agrees to the deal and hangs up. A poster is shown of Mave in the film a sudden gunshot tears through it,

and blood begins to leak down the wall
