th September, 1924 at Kulikawn, Aizawl (Mizoram). Father late

V.Z Biaka, Mother – Sangluaii. Married to Zokhumi, B.A (Hon.), BT on 24th

May

1962. Four daughters (Anne Zosangpuii, Mary Lalrengpuii, Angela Lalzikpuii and

Margaret Malsawmkimi) and one son (Late Zoliansanga).

Joined the Indian Army (Assam Regiment) in 1941, and had active military

service in North-East Assam & Burma (1942-47) and Jammu & Kashmir (1952-54

& 1957-58). Was transferred to pension establishment in 1958.

Joined Indian National Congress in 1970; Elected as a member of Mizoram

Legislative Assembly in 1972 from Aizawl South Constituency and was Minister

i/c Supply, Transport, Co-operation, Secretariat Administration, Law and Judicial,

Parliamentary Affairs from 1974 to 1977. Again elected to the Mizoram

Legislative Assembly in 1989 and was Minister i/c Finance, Planning &

Programme Implementation, Industries, Excise & Taxation and Trade &

Commerce. Re-elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly in Nov ’93 and is

now holding charge of Finance, Planning & Prog. Implementation, Economics &

Statistics and Co-operation.

th October, 1939 at Chhinga Veng, Aizawl.

Married to Smt. Rualchhingi d/o Rev. Saiaithanga and has two sons and daughters.

Passed HSLC Examination in 1963 from Govt. High School, Jowai (Meghalaya)

and graduated in 1966 from Pachhunga Memorial College, Aizawl. Resigned from

Government Service and entered politics and joined Indian National Congress in

1972. He contested the Second Mizoram Legislative Assembly election held on

21st Jan. ’89 as Congress (I) candidate and was elected from Lungpho

Constituency defeating nearest P.C rival by a margin of 169 votes.

Sworn in as a Minister of State on 20th

Nov. ’91.

Pu C.Chawngkunga is the son of Ch. Selchhunga, born on 17.10.1939 at

Champhai, Tlangsam. He studied at Gandhi Memorial High School, Champhai.

He married Smt. Lalliankimi on 28.10.64. He has 3 (three) sons and 5 (five)

daughters.

The post he held are as follows:

2. President - Mizo Union Block XI-A from 1967 to 1973

3. President - YMA Sairang Branch from 1968-1972

4. President - Village Council, Sairang, 1968-69 to 1970-71

He was elected to the First Legislative Assembly in April 1972 from No.29

constituency, Mamit on Mizo Union Ticket.

welfare and social organizations

He joined the People’s Conference Party and became its consultant. He was

elected to the Second Legislative Assembly from Kolasib Constituency on P.C

Ticket and became the Deputy Speaker for the second time in 1979. He was

inducted as a Minister on 28th

November, 1983. Being very much interested in

farming, he made a large garden at Sairang which is being developed as an

orchard and seed-farm. He is an ardent worker for the unification of Mizos who

are scattered in Manipur, Tripura and other places. Elected Vice President of P.C

for 15 years.

He was elected again in the last Election from Saitual Constituency and

became Cabinet Minister i/c Agriculture and Art & Culture.

Born on 1.6.1940 at Biate, Parents – Rev. Fehtea (L) & Kapchhungi. Passed

Matriculation in 1960 from Gandhi Memorial High School, Champhai, I.A in

1962 and B.A in 1964 from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong. Taught at Biate High

School in 1965-66. Joined underground MNF in 1966 as Home Secretary i/c

Education & Health Services. Elected in 1970 as Parliament Member. Returned

over-ground in 1972. Joined over-ground politics as Secretary, Aizawl District

Congress in 1973. Elected President of Mizoram Janata Party in 1979, Vice

President, Mizo Convention in 1983, Vice President Janata Dal (MJD) in

1991.Elected MLA in 1993 November election from 14-Khawbung Constituency

and became Minister i/c Transport and Sericulture. Married H.Lalthlamuani in

1974. Now living in Mac Donald Hill, Zarkawt, Aizawl with 3 sons and one

daughter.

Son of Pu Kawla and Pi Nguri, being the fourth child of twelve children was

born in 1946 at Thiak village. Graduated with honours from St. Edmund’s

College, Shillong and later completed B.T at Shillong Post Graduate Training

Institute, Shillong. Worked as Headmaster of the Reiek High School between

1972 and 1974. He was among the first batch of the M.C.S after formation of

Mizoram into Union Territory.

Married R.Rengkhumi in 1979, have two daughters. Joined active politics in

1976 and enrolled himself in the Congress party and became the General

Secretary of the Mizoram Pradesh (I) Committee. Elected as a member of the

Phuldungsei Constituency in April, 1983. Again elected at the General Assembly

Election held in April, 1984 and was installed as Minister of State for Local

Administration Department.

Elected in the First and Second Mizoram State Legislative Assembly from

Phuldungsei Constituency. Defeated nearest MNF rival by a margin of 788 votes.

Sworn in as Minister of State in-charge of Industries Department (Independent

charge). Assisted the Chief Minister in Department of Personnel and

Administrative Reform, General Administration Department, Information and

Public Relation Department.

Pu H.Lalruata was born on December 15, 1945 at S.Chawngtui, Lunglei

District. He was the fourth son of the eleven children of Pu Thanghrima and Pi

Hrangthuami. He married Pi H.Vanlalnghaki and had 4 daughters and one son.

Presently, residing at A.O.C Square, Ramthar, Lunglei with his family.

In academic, he passed M.A from Twin Cities University, West Monroe, L.A

(U.S.A) and Th.B from Texas Bible College, Houston, Texas (U.S.A)

He served as Headmaster at S.Chawngtui from 1965-66 and Cabinet Minister

from 1987-88. At present he holds the post of a Minister of-

Youngest son of Rev.Thanzinga born on 25

th Dec. 1936 at Chawnhu (Pawi

District). Married Pi Lalhmingthangi in 1966. Have five sons.

Passed Intermediate of Arts from Scottish Church College, Calcutta and

Graduated from St. Edmund’s College, Shillong in 1964 and B.T from Guwahati

University in 1967.

Served as Teacher in Thingsulthliah High School from 1963-65 and in

Republic High School, Aizawl from 1965-70. Was a General Secretary, M.Z.P

Headquarters, Aizawl during 1967-68.

Joined politics in 1968 by Joining Congress Party, elected Joint Secretary,

Mizoram District Congress Committee; Nominated to the District Council in

1970. In 1971-72, Executive Member i/c Forest and Revenue. In 1972-76, became

a Member of Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee. In 1976-81, elected

Treasurer of M.P.C.C. A Member of the Mizoram Planning Board 1975-78 and

also Advisory Board Member of Mizoram State Wildlife. Elected to the Mizoram

Legislative Assembly in1978 from Tlungvel Constituency on Congress Party

ticket, in 1979 elected from the same Constituency. Was General Secretary,

Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee during 1981-84. After being defeated by a

margin of 26 votes in Tlungvel Constituency in 1984 election, he contested

election from N.Vanlaiphai Assembly Constituency the same year and was

elected. Became a Cabinet Minister on the 11th

August 1984 looking after

Agriculture, Social Conservation, Forest, District council Affairs, Law and

Judicial.

In the Legislative Assembly Election held on 21st January 1989, he was

elected from N.Vanlaiphai Constituency. Installed as Cabinet Minister on 25th

January, 1989 and was looking after Agriculture, Environment & Forest, Home,

P.H.E., Excise & Taxation etc. Defeated nearest rival MNF candidate by a margin

of 194 votes.

In 1993, he was again elected Member of Mizoram Legislative Assembly

from N.Vanlaiphai Constituency and was installed as Cabinet Minister on 8th

December, 1993 and is looking after Power & Electricity and Industries.

Jordan, England, Netherlands.

A man of few words, but a hard and meticulous worker.

Son of Pu Lalhuliana, born on 1st October, 1949 at Sabual, Tripura. Passed

H.S.L.C from Govt. High School, Shillong and studied upto 2nd

year B.A at St.

Edmunds’s College, Shillong. In 1975 passed B.A from the Pachhunga University

College. Used to be a Secretary of Games and Sport while in the College.

Married Lalnithangi in 1976. Served as an UDC at Civil Secretariat during

1975-1978. Resigned from his job and joined Mizoram Congress (I) in 1979. From

1980 became President of Mizoram Youth Congress (I) till 1987, Member of All

India Youth Congress (I) High Command. In the General Elections 1979, 1984,

1987 and 1989, elected from the same Kawrthat Constituency. Chairman of

Mizoram Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (ZIDCO) from 1984-1987

February, also a member of various Assembly Committee. Minister of State,

Agriculture, etc. from 1989-1993 December. Retired from the Presidentship of

Mizoram Youth Congress (I) and is one of the Secretaries of Mizoram Congress

(I) High Command; very much interested in Games and Sports.

Again elected from Kawrthat Constituency on Congress (I) ticket in the 3rd

Mizoram State Legislative Assembly Election held on the 30th

November 1993,

defeating MNF rival by a margin of 1863 votes.

Pu Zosiama Pachuau was born on 15th

August, 1944 at Tualcheng North,

Aizawl District. He is the second eldest child of the nine children of Pu

Hauchhawna and Pi Lalhnehi.

In academic, he passed Matriculation Examination in 1963 from Sailmat

Kristian High School, Churachandpur, Manipur.

Passed P.U (Arts) in 1964 from D.M College, Imphal and graduated in 1967

from D.M College, Imphal. He obtained Master degree in 1971-72 from Guwahati

University and B.Ed in 1975 from University of Delhi. Married on 26th

June,

1974, to Pi Lalhmingliani of Kolasib. He has 6 children – 4 daughters and 2 sons.

He was first elected from Ngopa Constituency in 1984. He has been elected

for three consecutive terms – 1984, 1987, 1989 from the same Constituency. In

1993 he has been elected from Kolasib Constituency. At present he holds the post

of Minister i/c Higher & Technical Education and Soil & Water Conservation.

Presently he is residing at his permanent residence at Aizawl Venglai,

Aizawl.

Saihnawli. Born on 26.1.1943 at Serkawn, Lunglei.

Married Dengthuami in 1980, have two sons and two daughters.

Joined Congress (I) Party in 1968, was Joint Secretary, Lunglei District

Congress Committee from 1975 to 1984, became the President of LDCC (I) from

1984 to 1986.

Elected as Member of Village Council, Zotlang with Congress (I) ticket for

Shri F.Lawmkima is the second eldest of the eight children of Shri

Banglathanga. He was born on 21st January, 1941 at Thingsat village. In 1947 the

family moved to Lakhipur for the sake of better education where he passed Middle

School in the First Divison.

In 1960 he passed Matriculation Examination from Govt. Mizo High School.

He finished his I.A and B.A from Aizawl College and M.A (History) obtaining II

Class from Guwahati University. He married K.Zuiliani in 1965 and now resides

in Kulikawn, Aizawl with their three sons and one daughter.

He served as Lecturer in Siedmat Christian College, Churachandpur, upto

1969, and by the end of the same year he shifted to Aizawl College. In the same

year he entered politics joining the Mizo Union Party.

As Director of Mizo Union Party’s Youth Wing, he managed to set up Youth

Units all over Mizoram within one year. He was jailed in Aizawl for political

reasons and was also responsible for bringing about peace and understanding

between the M.N.F Party and Mizo Union Party.

In 1972, when Mizoram became a Union Territory, he left Mizo Union Party

along with others and formed a new Party known as the Mizo Labour Party. He

also fought the first U.T Assembly Election from MLP ticket securing a

substantial number of votes. In 1973, the Mizo Labour Party merged and he was

elected to the MPCC Party election from Suangpuilawn Constituency. He was

appointed Secretary MPCC (I) by President of the Party, Pu Lal Thanhawla, which

he held up to 1982. He was also a Member of AICC for more than ten years.

He left the MPCC (I) Party in 1985 and joined People Conference on account

of some misunderstandings over the 1985 Rajya Sabha election. He was elected

C.E.C of the P.C Party and held the post of Joint Secretary in-charge of publicity.

He was appointed General Secretary from 1991 which he holds to this day.

In the 1993 Assembly Election, he was elected as Member of the Legislative

Assembly on Janata Dal ticket from Suangpuilawn Constituency.

He now resides in Kulikawn, Aizawl with his family.

March, 1937 at Vawmbuk village, Chhimtuipui District. He was

the youngest son of Chhialinga (L) and Ngultiali (L). He passed his matriculation

from Govt. High School, Lunglei in 1960 and continued his studies at Pachhunga

College and read up B.A in 1966. Married to Thansiami having four sons.

He served as Teacher in Phuldungsei Middle and High School. He was the

first headmaster of Vawmbuk Middle School. Worked as LDC & UDC in the

Office of Deputy Commissioner, Aizawl.

He joined active Politics in 1972 and enrolled himself in the Mizoram

Congress Party and had become General Secretary of Aizawl West Block in 1972.

Elected as President of Aizawl West Block in1973. Later became the Secretary of

Aizawl District Congress Committee in 1974-1975, and General Secretary,

Aizawl District Congress Committee in 1976-1978. He was elected as President of

Aizawl District Congress Committee from 1979-1990. Became Secretary,

Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee from 1991-1992 and was appointed as one

of the General Secretaries of Mizoram Pradesh Committee in 1993. He contested

and won the election from Sangau Constituency with Indian National Congress

Party’s ticket in 1993 and was installed as Minister of State i/c Land Revenue &

Settlement and Local Administration.

He was ordained as Church Elder of Khatla Presbyterian Church in 1970.

Elected as Secretary of Mission Veng Pastorate and he is also the first Senior

Secretary of Bungkawn Pastorate. Later elected as Chairman of Bungkawn

Pastorate from 1981-1982.

Shri Zakhu Hlychho was born in the year 1943 on 15th

Dec. at Maubawk

Village (Near Saiha). His parents are Pu Laimo Hlychho and Pi Khuangchii. His

paternal grandfather Sister Hlychho was Chief of Maubawk and his father also

ruled as Chief till the Government abolished Chieftainship.

He finished his P.S.L.C in I Division from Maubawk in 1955. Passed

Matriculation from Mawkhar Christian High School, Shillong and B.A from St.

Edmund’s College, Shillong in 1967.

Served as a Teacher in Government High School, Saiha in 1968-69. He

entered politics in 1970 and joined the Mara Freedom Party. In the same year he

was elected as Member, Pawi-Lakher Regional Council. In July 1970, he was

elected as Chief Executive Member of Pawi-Lakher Regional Council. In 1972,

when Mizoram became a Union Territory, “PL”. Regional Council was

Trifurcated into Pawi, Lakher and Chakma District Councils. He was the first

CEM of Mara District Council.

He was elected as MDC from Maubawk Constituency in 1972 and again

from the same Constituency in 1977 in the District Council election (Second

Term) and became EM. Again he was elected and became CEM in 1982 (3rd

Term) from Maubawk Constituency.

In 1990, he was elected from Tuipang Constituency and is at present

member in the Mara Autonomous District Council. He won the MLA seat from

Saiha Constituency through the MNF ticket. His wife Pi Suipari is serving as a

teacher in Government Higher Secondary School, Saiha and they have six

children.

He is a Church Elder in the Evangelical Church of Maraland and Senior

Advisor KTP. He is also the founder of Mara Students’ Organisation. He is an

active member of the Mara Students Organisation till the present day.

member of the Central Young Chakma Association.

Schedule in the Parliament; an adhoc president of the Chakma District Congress(I)

Committee from March 1987 to April, 1989. In 1989 he again contested from the

Pu F.Lalzuala was born on July, 12th

1949 at Tawipui village, Lunglei

District. His father was Aichhuma, Chief of Tawipui village and his mother was

Siaziki, the daughter of Lalsaipianga, Chief of Mamte village. He is the youngest

child of the 14 children, he had 7 brothers and 6 sisters. He is popularly known by

his pet name- Patea. He got married in April, 29th

, 1978 to Pi V.Hmingliani D/o

Thatchianga of Tawipui. He had four sons. Presently, he is residing at Lunglei

Chanmari Veng with his family.

He enrolled as an MNF volunteer in 1964, and went under-ground in 1966,

when there was insurgency. In 1967, he went on leave and came over-ground. On

October, 27th

1983, he again joined the MNF Party and after joining the party only

for 5 days he got the ticket for Tawipui Assembly Constituency, from where he

was elected.

Regarding education, he received his education i.e. High School and

College at Shillong and Aizawl respectively. Studied up to B.A final. During his

High School days, he was student union leader.

He served as LDC at Electric Department from 1975-79. Then he shifted to

P.K Middle School from 1980-82 as a teacher. In 1983 he entered into private

business. Has a well-established business till date.

Since 1978, he got involved in religious activities and is now an active

member at Lunglei Chanmari Presbyterian Church. He contributed much for the

spread of the Gospel through Missionaries.

He is a man of firm determination with a spirit of patriotism. He has a

message to the people thus to dislike political corruption and exploitation which

have destroyed the Mizo Culture and Society and urged the people of Mizoram to

be free from such politics.

Son of Pu Lianzinga (L) and Pi Kaiveli was born at Lamzawl on March 15,

1924. Studied up to Class III and passed in 1935. His own personal profession was

business. His political career began in 1947 and became a member of Mizo Union

Party. Elected as Divisional Vice President at Lunglei in 1969. In 1970, was re-

elected as President in the same Division.

In 1972, he was elected member of Mizoram Legislative Assembly from

Hnahthial Constituency on Mizo Union ticket. It was merged with Congress I in

1974 and he became Senior Vice President. He joined MNF Party in 1990 and

became Senior Adviser at Lunglei Sub-Hqrs.

Born on 23.11.1934 at Khawzawl village. Married Tluangliana, has 3

daughters.

Passed Matric in 1956 from Government Mizo High School, I.A in 1960 from

Barapani Christian College, B.A in 1963 from Cotton College, Gauhati.

Entered into Politics in 1965, joined Mizo Union Party. Elected as Secretary

and later as President, Kanghmun Block in 1965 and served as President for 6

years.

Due to disturbance in Mizoram in 1967, shifted to Aizawl and was elected, Jt.

Secretary of Mizo Union Headquarters in 1968. Became District Council Member

of Suangpuilawn Bial and Executive Member of the District Council in 1971 and

was in charge of Education.

In Mizoram U.T Assembly Election, elected from Serchhip Constituency in

1972. Was one of the Ministers in the first Ministry of Mizoram Union Territory

on 3.5.1972 and on 17.11.1975 was elected Speaker of the Assembly.

Elected Vice-President of Mizoram Congress Party and served till 30.6.1984,

was Minister in Congress (I) Ministry.

In the Mizoram General Assembly Election held on 21 January 1989, elected

from Kawnpui Constituency defeating nearest MNF rival by a margin of 112

votes, became Vice Chairman State Planning Board and was elected Vice

President of Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee. Sworn in as Minister on 20th

Nov. 1991.

Again elected MLA from Bilkhawthlir Constituency on Congress (I) ticket

defeating nearest MNF rival by margin of 457 votes and subsequently elected as

Speaker, Legislative Assembly for the second time.

Shri John Rotluangliana is the son of Shri Israel Sangkhuma and Smt.

Changthangi. He was born on 5th

March, 1956 at Chhinga Veng, Aizawl. He

passed Primary School in 1966 from Dawrpui Primary School. After passing

H.S.L.C in 1976, he went to Madras Christian College and passed P.U Commerce

in 1979. Passed B.A from Punjab University in 1982 and joined the Mizoram

Pradesh Congress (I) in the same year. He was Executive Member of the Mizoram

Pradesh Youth Congress (I) Hqrs. Was also Vice President of the National

Students Union of India, Mizoram State. He was General Secretary, Mizoram

Pradesh Youth Congress (I) Hqrs and Vice President till date.

Was Vice President, MZP Madras Branch in 1979-82 and General

Secretary, Mizo Students Union, Chandigarh in 1979-82 and Treasurer, YMA

Dawrpui Branch.

He married Pi Vanlalhruaii in 1986 and resides in his own residence at

Pu B.Lalthlengliana was born in the year 1947 on 20th

April at Farkawn.

His father was Pu Taihnawka (L). He married Pi Chawngpari in the year 1981 and

they have 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. His home address is Kolasib Venglai and

his present address is Fiara Tui Run, Bethlehem, Aizawl.

His educational qualifications. He passed HSLC from St. Anthony’s High

School, Shillong in 1960 and P.U Arts from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong in

1970. Passed B.A (Hons.) from Shillong College, Shillong in 1974 and M.A (Hist)

and M.A (Pol. Sc.) from Guwahati University in the year 1976 and 1979

respectively. He had also taken Methodology course but did not complete the

course to obtain a degree.

Previous posts held:

He was the Founder of Farkawn High School in the year 1972. Served as a

teacher at Republic High School in 1977-78. Lecturer and Head of Department in

PU LALHMINGTHANGA

Born on 9th

June, 1940 at Vanhne, he is the only son of Pu Hrangbuanga

(L) and Pi Lalziki. He has four sisters.

He passed matric from Government High School, Shillong in 1960;

graduate in 1964 from St. Anthony’s College, and later finished B.T from Post

Graduate Training College, Shillong in 1973. Served in Civil Secretariat, Assam

during 1960-1962, and at the Accountant General Office, Assam in 1962-1972 and

left the job for business, however joined politics in order to serve the people in a

wider scope.

In 1974 when the Human Right Committee was formed he was Chairman

at Lunglei District. He joined People’s Conference in 1975 and elected President

of Lunglei Sub-Headquarters. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1978

and 1979 from Lunglei Town Constituency, and was installed as Minister i/c

Finance, Revenue, P.W.D, Power & Electricity, etc. during 1978-1979 and again

in 1979-1984.

The Departments under his able leadership improved greatly and

tremendously. He made the P.W.D and Power & Electricity Departments the most

improved.

He is an Ordained ELDER in the Mizoram Baptist Church and is liked by

others for his loving manner and clemency. His watchword includes – Honesty,

Sincerity and Hard Work.

He was elected Working President, MJD Hqrs. 1992-1993, and was elected

to the Legislative Assembly from Aizawl North I Constituency in 1993 and

inducted as Cabinet Minister i/c Finance, SAD, PHE, Excise and Taxation on 8th

Dec. 1993 – June, 1994.

He is a keen sportsman and plays Hockey, Badminton and other field

events like jump, pole vault, shot put, etc.

He has written one book “ZORAM HMASAWNNA RAHBI” and several

poems in English and Mizo and also won 1st prize in the Mizo Cultural Literacy

Competition in 1962.

He married Pi Rothuami, has 2 sons and 4 daughters and resides with his

family at his own residence, Near Circuit House, Khatla, Aizawl.

PU MALSAWMA F.

Pu F.Malsawma was born on 2.10.1947 at Zanlawn village. His parents are

Khawtinkhaia and Sangkungi. His father died when he was only two years old and

he is the youngest among his three brothers and two sisters. Pu F.Malsawma had

undergone all hardships caused by poverty and ill health in the early ages.

He did his Primary Education at Zanlawn, Middle School course at Kolasib

and Kawnpui. He studied Class VII at St.John’s High School, Kolasib; Class IX at

Hmar Chaltlang and passed HSLC from Government High School, Shillong. He

did his College courses from St. Edmund’s and St. Anthony’s College, Shillong

and passed M.A from Guwahati University in the First Class in 1972. He was a

School Teacher from 1967-70 in Mizo High School, Madanrting, Shillong and

Headmaster in Thingdawl High School. He served as a Lecturer in Pol. Science at

Pachhunga University during 1973-75. He had won prizes in Debate, Sports and

General Proficiency. He got spiritual conversion while he was in Class X i.e.

1965, since then he had never given up his deep spiritual conviction.

He joined politics and formed People’s Conference Party in 1975 with Brig.

T.Sailo, won Assembly Elections in 1978 and 1979 from Suangpuilawn

Constituency and became Cabinet Minister for Education, Social Welfare,

Industries, Co-operation (now Sericulture and Sports) from 1978 to 1983.

Resigned from Ministership voluntarily to pave the way for the return of peace in

Mizoram. He was the youngest Cabinet Minister in the country during those days

and first to resign from Class I post to join politics and from Ministership

voluntarily in Mizoram, joined Congress (I) Party and became its General

Secretary till 1986. He then again left Congress (I) in order to cause the early

return of peace in Mizoram. He had started ZIDCO, MIZOFED, Apex Bank,

Music & Fine Arts and adopted NCERT pattern for Mizoram schools during his

tenure as a Minister. He had written some spiritual and political books.

He joined MNF in 1992 and won Assembly election of 1993 from 34-

Aizawl North-II constituency defeating a combined candidate of Cong (I) & MJD.

He is now living at Chaltlang with his wife and three children.

Being the eldest son of Pastor Darliana (L) and Pi Aizovi (L). Pu

F.Lalremsiama was born on the 1st of January, 1936 at Tualte Village in Aizawl

District.

He married Pi Lalthantluangi in 1955 and have three children. He resides

inhis own residence at Chaltlang (Dawrkawn) Aizawl with his family.

Educational Qualification: Since childhood he was a determined person. He was bright and intelligent.

He passed Primary, Middle English, Matric and I.A in the 1st Division. Stood first

in the Middle English Scholarship Exam in Mizoram and was honoured with the

Lushai Chiefs Council Award. He did BA as a private candidate and got a

distinction.

Professions: When his father Pastor Darliana passed away, he had to support his family

and started working as an LDA in the Office in May, 1955, while at the same time

pursuing his studies in college. He later worked as a Social Education Organiser

under the Block Development. He qualified for IPS in 1965 and served in various

parts of India.

worked for the welfare of his staff. Always tried to keep up the “Mizo

Tlawmngaihna” and helps the needy. He is deeply involved in the Social

also once the President of the Delhi Mizo Welfare Association.

He is an active member and a Sunday School teacher in the Presbyterian

Church of Chaltlang. He was an unordained elder in Delhi Mizo church during his

Dr. HLUNA J.V.

Dr. J.V Hluna was born on March 31

st, 1946 at Phullen village. He is the 7

th

child of Elder Kaprema’s ten children. His paternal grandfather Vawmkaia was an

outstanding man who performed ‘Thangchhuah’.

Academics: He studied up to class IX at their village Phullen and Class X

at Saitual. Owing to the disturbances in 1966, he could not appear for

matriculation examination from Republic High School, Aizawl. He passed as a

private candidate in 1968. Passed P.U (Arts) from Pachhunga College in 1969,

B.A (Hons) from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong in 1972 and M.A from Gauhati

University in 1974. He also obtained a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) from Gauhati

University in 1986 while serving as a Lecturer.

During his studies in Shillong, he served as an LDC. He was among the

founders of Aizawl College in 1975 serving as one of the first Lecturer of the

College.

In 1977, he shifted to Pachhunga University College and is the Head of

Department in History, being one of the Senior most Lecturers till date.

He wrote two books in English:

i) Church & Political Upheavals in Mizoram (1985)

ii) Educated & Missionaries in Mizoram (1993)

Apart from his thesis for Ph.D ‘Education History of Mizoram’, he also

wrote substantial number of Research Papers in English on the History of Mizos.

He also wrote with Rev. L.N Ralte, ‘The Presbyterian Church of Mizoram’ which

was published by the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, Geneva in 1989.

He is also the author of two books in Mizo,

i) ‘Brig.T.Sailo Chanchin’ in 1983 and

ii) ‘Kan Missionary te Chanchin’, which is being published at present.

Apart from these, he wrote several articles and booklets in Mizo.

Being the son of an elder of the Church, he is an active Member of the

Mission Veng Church where he holds important positions such as Sunday School

teacher among the adults, Preacher and Secretary, Building Committee.

On the social front he was:

ii) Founder Secretary, Hrangbana College, taught for two years without

salary. Also, Member of the Board of Aizawl West College. Councilor

Cultural Heritage Preservation. Founder Secretary of YMCA Aizawl,

and underwent training for Christian Youth Leadership at Hong Kong in

1983.

Went on Tour of the Holy Land and visited Cairo and Dubai. He

also visited the Mizo Israel settlers in their respective places. He is also

a Life Member of MZP, YMA, YMCA, Mizo Academy of Letters,

PU TLANGHMINGTHANGA R.

Mr. R.Tlanghmingthanga, youngest son of Rev. Liandova and Phailuti was

born on 21st march, 1943 at Mualpheng village. His elder brothers are Mr.

Saizahawla, Mr. R.Z Thangchhuaka and Rev. Lianbuanga.

Mr. Tlanghmingthanga studied up to B.A and he was the first Mizo who

have passed Automobile Engineering (Dip) and thereby became the first Mizo

M.V.I when he joined the post in 1972. He however, left the job in 1985 and soon

divulged that he had been one of the most active members of the MNF Party

which he had been serving openly and then secretly since 1962. As a matter of

fact, he was one of the Twenty-two commando Officers trained in the then East

Pakistan and one of the selected Ten Leaders of the MNF officers of the North

Mizo District.

When the first Mizoram State Legislative Assembly election was held in

1987, Mr. R.Tlanghmingthanga successfully contested from Aizawl South I

Constituency and was inducted as Minister of State for Supply & Transport, etc.

As Secretary of the Mizo Students Association (MZP) Calcutta Branch, Mr.

R.Tlanghmingthanga had successfully helped many Mizo students who had faced

problems of various types and was popularly known to be an altruistic leader of

the students and ardent social worker.

At home, he was elected President of the Venghlui Branch YMA (Young

Mizo Association) for many terms and occupied this position from 1972-1977. He

was also elected General Secretary of the Central YMA for 10 (ten) consecutive

years from 1977 to 1987 till he had to leave this heavy responsibility of Voluntary

Social Service when he was installed as Minister of Mizoram in that (1987). He

had also served as President of the Village Defence Party (VDP), Venghlui for 5

years. As member of the Legislative Assembly of Mizoram, Mr.

R.Tlanghmingthanga’s election in 1993 was the third consecutive term that he

returned from the same constituency.

As regards religious activities, Mr. R.Tlanghmingthanga holds various

responsibilities as the Teacher or Superintendent of the Sunday Schools, as Leader

of KTP (Young Christian Movement), or as member of the ZEF and was selected

member of the Touring Choir of U.S.A in 1985. He is also involved in the

preaching ministry of the local church. He is known to be completely free from

alcoholic drinks.

As a lover of Sports and Games, Mr. R.Tlanghmingthanga participated at

the First Mizoram Olympic held in 1963 where he won two prizes in the athletic

events of “Insukherh” or “Insuknawr” and “Inchai”.

Mr. Tlanghmingthanga married Lalrawngbawli, daughter of Thansanga in

1975 and has two sons and three daughters. Besides his two brothers he has five

sisters, all of whom have got married and settled down.

PU LALSAWTA

Lalsawta was born on 21st March, 1946 at Luangmual, Aizawl, to Late

Bawichhuaka and Late Thangrikhumi. Though the family is originally from

Thakthing, Aizawl, they had to settle in many parts of Mizoram due to the many

transfers the father encountered during his service under Public Works

Department.

He graduated with Distinction in 1972 from Pachhunga College, Aizawl, as

a private student. He joined the first batch of Mizoram Civil Service in 1974 and

served under different departments in Mizoram till 1987 when in January, he

joined the Mizoram Congress Party. He contested the 1987 election from Kolasib

Constituency and lost to Pu Aichhinga.

He was in the Congress party for about five years and joined the Mizo

National Front in 1992. In the same year, he passed LL.B from NEHU and is

currently a practicing Lawyer besides being a Legislator elected from Aizawl

South II Assembly Constituency in the 1993 Mizoram Assembly General Election

which he contested from MNF party.

Married to Lalropari, daughter of Upa Lalrongenga of Mission Veng, in

1976, he is now living with his sixteen-year old son, fifteen year-old daughter, and

of course his wife Pari, in his own home at Mission Vengthlang, Aizawl, within

his Constituency.

Son of Lalrawna (L) born in 1936 at North Serzawl, passed P.U.C and

joined politics in 1966 while working as headmaster in Khawruhlian M.E School.

Joined the MNF underground and was designated General Secretary of the MNF

Party since 1979 till 21.2.1987.

Defence Minister of the erstwhile MNF Government from 1971 to 1978

and Minister Supply till 1986. Came out from the underground when peace accord

was signed in June 1986.

Elected in the First Mizoram Legislative Assembly Election from MNF

ticket with absolute majority from the 21-Ratu Constituency. Sworn in as Health

Minister on 27.2.1987.

Won again the Second Mizoram Legislative Assembly Election from the

same Constituency as MNF Candidate defeating nearest Congress (I) rival by a

margin of 214 votes. He is married and has four sons and one daughter.
