EDI NEWS—THIRD EDITION
Dinosaur Diggers Incursion
The Foundation students also celebrated their 100th day of school by dressing up as anything to do with 100! We explored the number 100 and different ways to count to 100.
This term in Foundation we have been transforming our classrooms into Fairy Tale
land! Here are some of our wondering questions about fairy tales:
I wonder why is the wolf so scary? Goldie
I wonder why the Gingerbread man trusted the sneaky fox? Ted
I wonder why Ariel had a tail? Emma
I wonder why the troll stopped the three goats from going across the bridge? Cruz
I wonder if princess Jasmine ever gets married? Jasmine
I wonder why the three little pigs didn’t lock their door? Byron
Sizzling Start for
Dinosaur in the backyard
OMG! If this happened to someone else they would
cry, but I’m brave enough to handle this by myself. It
was a triceratops! It was stabbing my trees and they
fell on my neighbours. The neighbours said, ‘Get off
the lawn!”

Sizzling Start for a Picture Prompt
Ahhhh! Look Dad, there is a Tyrannosaurus Rex! It is
really BIG! It is going to eat us! Run!!!! Phew, that was
close. I can’t believe we saw a real T-Rex.

Dinosaur Incursion Recount
OMG! I can’t believe I found real fossils! I saw one dinosaur egg.
It was amazing because it was bigger than a chicken egg. I smelt
dinosaur poo, it was gross. I learnt that T-Rex’s are very
dangerous. My favourite part was seeing the T-Rex head.
By Abbie McC, 1A
OMG!!! I saw loads and loads of dinosaurs. I saw a T-Rex toy, it
looked really scary to me. I heard a noise, it was a dinosaur
ARRRRRR! I felt a huge dinosaur skill. His name was Tom the T-
Rex. The mum T-Rex is bigger than a dad T-Rex.
By Asha S, 1A
Here I am beginning to run like
the dinosaur stampede. The
stampede was very noisy and
the lady was very funny.
By Archie A, 1A
I was roaring like a
T-Rex.
By Lucy V, 1A
Here we are looking for fossils. I found a
shark tooth. It was cool.
By Scarlett S, 1A
ARGH! There’s a fossil
about to eat me!!!!! Just
kidding. It was only a fossil
that turns into rock.
By Mark P, 1B
WOW! Look at that giant T-Rex head! That
was so cool. By Ruby W, 1B
Look at this humungous fossil. Inside it had
about 60 sharp teeth. By Jessica M, 1B
Woo Hoo! We found some
fossils and animal teeth.
My favourite were the
shark teeth. They were a
bit sharp.
By Matthew B, 1B
WOW! Look how HUGE
this dinosaur foot is
compared to my foot.

Did you know that the United Kingdom can fit
into Africa over more than 120 times? Kai 2A
Did you know that Mount Everest is about 60 million years
old.? There has been fossils found on it. Finnian 2A
The Year two’s had a fun cultural day. We got to dress up
from our continent, we learnt dances from other countries
and we got to cook and then eat fried rice and gingerbread.
It was a great day!
Remi and Leah 2A
Swimming I hopped in the pool with my clothes on. We swam two
laps then we had to tread water for 5 minutes. By then I
was panting. 4 minutes had past I knew I could do it but I
was so tired! RING!!! The 5 minutes was up. I was relieved!
But we still had to take our clothes off in the water. That
wasn’t easy. Still panting. I hopped out of the pool. I did
it. Jack 2B
Splash! Sloosh! Just a reminder that swimming is on!
Don’t forget to bring your bathers, towel, swimming
cap and goggles! You can dive in and have fun and
learn at the same time. So come to swimming. When I
was at swimming I learnt how to do freestyle and sur-
vival kick with chicken arms and got water pies in my
face. You clearly see swimming is where you should be.
Zoe 2B
Splash! Falling in at the deepest end with my clothes
on! Going under the water! Doing breaststroke, float-
ing and doggy paddle. Getting out of the water. Get-
ting things wet! Sitting next to my best friend on the
bus playing games. Swimming is the BEST!
Ethan 2B Mmm I love the yummy food in Europe. Wow,
it would be so great. We have to go to Europe
to try it. Imagine having waffles for breakfast
every day. Josh 2B
“Mum. Look at that crown!” Mum, if you take me to
Europe we can see the Crown Jewels and they’re very
pretty. You couldn’t see something that cool in
Melbourne. Michael 2B
Yay! I made a treehouse. I am going to
play with my toys in it. It’s for my spe-
cial toys. Elizabeth 2C
Come on, let’s make those treehouses! I
am so excited. Stickers, cardboard,
string, shiny stuff, buttons, colourful
sticks, paper and painting walls. We
made ladders for our treehouses. I put
books in mine, a seat, carpet, a comput-
er, stickers, a bed, some buttons and
one shiny thing. Jiali 2C
Ehh, this is so boring. Oh, what are we doing? That’s
it! I quickly start running to school. I go to the Art
Show and I see some things I can’t describe. Evil ro-
bots, papier mache pigs, silhouette animals...this is
AMAZING! Lucas 2C

Science Day Fun!
Benson– The pointy wire on
the end of my capsule ab-
sorbs the impact. The wings
help make the tip face to-
ward the ground in the air.
Airlie – I have used a
large plastic bag as a
parachute and a
small cardboard tube
to protect the egg.
Scarlett– I think my
capsule will work be-
cause the parachute
will make it stay in the
air longer.
Metaiah– I used large plas-
tic drinking straws hoping
that they protect the egg
and absorb the shock.
Darcy– The egg will be
secure inside the ball and
the hay will protect the
egg from the impact.
Zach– I think the balloons
will help keep the para-
chute up in the air.
Montana– I used 4 bal-
loons to help try keep it
in the air and protect
the egg when it hits the
ground.
Calling all Astronauts! Our year 3
mission was to design and build a
capsule that will protect an egg
from the perils of re-entry
(dropped from a large height).
The objective was to have our
Eggnaut survive a fall from a

EDI NEWS—THIRD EDITION
THE MAGIC PUDDLE
Channel 9 news right here, right now. 2 kids gone missing the age of 4,
last seen 7 days ago having the time of their lives jumping in a mystery
puddle. The puddle has been there for two weeks, through sun and rain!
That’s all the news we have for now. 9 news OUT!!
“I’m so worried about little Millie and Milo.” Sobbed Jemma. “I can’t
believe they have been missing for more than a week!” Dan yelled
angrily. Jemma and Dan were furious!! “Let’s go look for our kids near
the puddle!” Jemma retorted. “Sure, but I don’t think we will find them.”
Dan announced sadly.
“Ok! We can get in the car now.” Yelled Jemma. Broom! Broom, the car
went as if it was a lawn mower. Along the sidewalk, there was a puddle.
Screech! The car was quite old so it made a loud noise when it stopped.
Anyway, the car was parked right next to the puddle. Just as Dan and
Jemma got out of the car something monstrous happened! “THE PUD-
DLE IS ALIVE!” Dan shouted.
The puddle started to shoot water out of it then, 2 kids!! “There is Millie
and Milo!” Dan and Jemma yelled excitedly! “But! They’re FLYING?!”
Dan was very confused. The kids gave their parents a BIG thumbs up!
“Hi mum and dad! We have superpowers!! Milo was a superhero! “Yeah
and we can stop water by freezing it and the sun evaporates it!” Millie
shouted.
“Um… MILLIE! We need to save the world! Milo yelled crazily. “You stay
right here while we SAVE THE WORLD!!!!” Millie screamed to her par-
ents. “Come on Millie!! People are relying on us!” Called Milo. “OK!! You
don’t have to shout.” Responded Millie. “I WILL FLOOD THE WHOLE
ENTIRE WORLD!” The puddle started shooting out more and more water
per second. “I’ll freeze the puddle and you tell the sun to evaporate it
FAST!!” Milo said like no one was watching. “OK”. Millie was ready to
fight and was raging with anger.
“SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH!” The puddle splashed anyone or anything
that got in its way. First he flooded Europe, then America, then Asia,
then Africa and finally Australia! Everyone was PANICKING!
“SSSHHHHHHH!” Milo froze the puddle! “MILLIE!!” Now Milo was
panicking. “Hey sun! Can you please evaporate all that ice down there? ”
Cried Millie to the sun. “OK MILLIE!” The sun replied. “KABOOM!” All the
ice was evaporated!
“BOOYAH! Take that puddle!” Millie and Milo got rid of the puddle!!!!
“HIGH FIVE!!” They said together. “Good job Millie and Milo!!” Mum and
Dad were so proud!
Art show On the 13th of September we had the amazing art show. The Year 4 teachers and students
made past and present TVs with a Brady Bunch theme. The students in every class made
an art piece and the teachers made incredible pieces of art to sell off in the silent auction.
There was also a delicious cake stall – yum!! Here is pictures of our TV’s.

SWIMMING!!!
Have you all enjoyed swimming these last few weeks? Well
we know we have! What was your favourite day of swim-
ming? Our favourite was water safety day. Some of the
activities we did was make a rip. We all ran in a circle and when the in-
structors told us, we would jump up, let go and float on our backs and be
spinning around in a circle. Our next activity was saving someone and
helping them into shore. We all stood in two lines. One person would
jump in the water and the person behind them would throw a pool noo-
dle at them and they would swim back to shore.
By Billy L and Rowan
Year 4 science dome incursion We had an amazing time at the incredible science incursion. We
watched some cool clips about how one big continent called Pan-gea got split into seven smaller continents and how Earthquakes,
tsunamis, tornados and cyclones were made. We learnt that we are standing on the crust of the earth and if you could look through
the ground you would see that there are different layers under the crust that would keep going towards the core.

Year 4 Inquiry
This Term the year 4’s have been
working around their big question
for this terms inquiry unit, “How
do people plan an overseas trip
that suits their wants and needs?
The Year 4’s had to pick a coun-
try from either Africa or South
America, then we had to make a brochure for a couple with
all the information for the flights, accommodation and activities you are going
to do for a 10 day trip. First you had to plan it on the computer. Then you had
to write it on your brochure.
if anyone reading this is interested in going to South America or Africa come
visit the year 4’s, because they’ve got the trip for you!
Camp!
The bus was a bit of disaster because
everyone and I mean everyone was
singing. Guess what the song was? The
wheels on the bus…. it was terrifying!
The giant swing was incredible and the
flying fox was top notch. The race
around camp you ask? Don’t get me started… it was
super competitive. Remember that sneaky fox? Jokes!
It was those sneaky teachers you need to watch out
for. That’s what you get for leaving your door open I
guess, but at the end of the day they all got their
pillows back. That was our camp experience.
Over and out.
