Candles are Blessed on this day to remind us that Jesus is the Light of the World. Feast of St. Blaise Patron for sore throats and sick cattle. He was a physician before becoming a Bishop. The Blessing of St. Blaise is a sign of our faith in God’s protection and love for us and for the sick. “Through the intercession of St. Blaise, Bishop and Martyr, may God deliver you from all ailments of the throat and from every other evil, in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.” Blessing of throats before and after Mass on next Saturday night. Before Mass in Kilmurry on Sunday and after Mass in Sixmilebridge on Sunday. The theme this year is ‘Catholic Schools’ Celebrating the Work of Our Local Catholic Schools Town/Village Centre Paint Scheme 2019 Clare County Council has established a specific Paint Scheme for towns/villages I the county. For 2019, one tow or village located within a municipal district area will be selected by the relevant Municipal District Committee to benefit from the scheme. The aim of the Scheme is to improve the visual ap- pearance of a town or village and to enhance the general area to make more attractive places in which to live and visit. Closing date for receipt of applications is February 6th 2019.
