Missa Super Dixit Maria
Hans Leo Hassler
The Cathedral Choir will be singing the Missa
Super Dixit Maria on 12 November 2017 at the
11:15 am Solemn Mass.
Hassler is considered to be one of the two finest
German composers of the Renaissance, and he
is often compared to Lassso in terms of cosmo-
politanism and overall quality of repertoire.
Hassler is also compared to Palestrina in com-
posing melodic lines that are fluid in shape, and
in constructing balanced formal structures with
textures that unfold in logically satisfying har-
monic designs.
Help Decorate the Cathedral for Christmas!
We are beginning to plan now!
Help is needed collecting the free Christmas
tree cuttings available from local merchants
and putting them in buckets of water until
needed. We need tons of cuttings! We also need
other greenery including magnolia leaves, long
leaf pine, cedar, podacarpus/yew, holly leaves
and berries, boxwood, and any other greenery
that will last after being cut. All cuttings need
to be kept in water and can be dropped off at
the church during office hours through 18 De-
cember. Contact Stephanie Stewart at 843-724-
8395 or
arrange a time for drop off or with any ques-
tions.
Cathedral Christmas
Ornaments are in! Or-
naments will be availa-
ble after the 9:00 am &
11:15 am Masses. They
are also available by
calling Doug Deas at

pm. The ornaments at
$20 each and any avail-
able past years’ orna-
ments will be $15.00.
Some of the proceeds from the Cathedral
Men’s Club sales go towards upkeep of our
Cathedral.

On Sunday, 19 November, Pope Francis will
celebrate a special Mass to honor
World Day of the Poor. The Holy Fa-
ther has asked all parishes to partici-
pate in some manner.
In cooperation with Pope Francis’
intentions that day, we ask that all
parishioners bring a non-perishable food item
to fill up our St. Vincent de Paul pantry, which
is needed especially as we approach the holi-
day season.
World Day of the Poor was established as an
initiative rising from the Year of Mercy as a
way to encourage encounters, friendship, soli-
darity and concrete assistance to the poor.
SVDP Food Pantry: In preparation of Thanks-
giving the Food Pantry asks for your considera-
tion
donating the following items: Jars of Gravy,
Stuffing Mixes, Canned tuna, Chef Boyardee,
Chili, Stew, Canned Chicken, Grape Jelly, Ce-
real Boxes, Green Beans, Pancake Mix, Vienna
Sausage, Detergents and Cleaning Supplies.

ing: Help is needed with the Ad-
vent Pageant, as well as organiz-
ing refreshments afterward. The

ber from 10:15-11:00 am. If you are

the curriculum but are also
demonstrated through communi-
ty service projects. So far this fall
semester, CCS students have participate in the
following:

Need
