THIRTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
In today’s second reading, St. Paul prays that the Thessalonians may
be strengthened “in every good deed and word.” May, we, too, be
strengthened and empowered to use our time and talents for the
good of others.

NOVEMBER 06, 2016
Dear Parishioners,
1) Today St. Catherine’s has our annual
TURKEY DINNER at the Hall serving from
11:00 AM until 3:00 PM (take outs 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM). Bring
your family and friends and enjoy a great meal and a friendly
visit.
2) Next weekend (November 11, 12, and 13) St. Joseph’s hosts
our annual celebration of 40 Hours. Please sign up for
adoration times. Sign-up sheets are in the vestibules of all
three churches.
It does take a sacrifice to come over to St. Joseph’s and spend
some time with the Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament.
One spiritual writer noted that to truly deepen our experience
of the Lord in the Eucharist requires time spent outside of
Mass. Receiving Holy Communion during Mass is a rather
quick experience. “The Body of Christ.” “Amen.” I consume
and return to my seat. But if I spend some time quietly in
front of the Blessed Sacrament I can just relax and “be with”
Jesus. Great blessings flow from the time I spend and
deepens my experience and understanding of God.
3) We continue our annual campaign of Stewardship of
Treasure. Please pray asking God what is the right gift for you
to make. Fill out the card that came in the mailing. Seal it in
the envelope provided and return it in the collection or put it
in the box in the vestibule at any of the three churches. You
can mail it to your respective parish office if you so choose.
For electronic giving contact Kim Krey for St. Francis Xavier’s
or St. Catherine’s Parishes (231-853-6222) and Marcia Klein
for St. Joseph’s (626-899-2286) and they will help you set it
up.
Stewardship of Treasure is all about my need to give which is
even greater than the church’s need to receive (great as that
is). If we all give first fruits there will be plenty to take care of
the church’s needs. Remember, stewardship of treasure (as
well as time and talent) is WHAT WE DO WITH WHAT WE
HAVE WHEN WE BELIEVE IN GOD.
4) As I mentioned in my homily last weekend “Courage” is an
apostolate of the Catholic Church that ministers to persons
with same-sex attraction and their loved ones. Website:
www.couragerc.org. You may hear more about this by
listening to my homily posted on our website: ourcluster.org.
You may also contact the local chapter of “Courage” by
contacting the Chaplain, Fr. James Chelich by email at
[email protected] or by phone at 616-459-4662. If
you are struggling or know someone who is, please check
Courage out. There’s a lot help and hope in this thoroughly
Catholic ministry.
I love you, Fr. Fred

A big thank you goes out to Marge Rusco, the Home & School Assoc. and the Altar Society for their generous donations to have the planter in
front of the hall rebuilt. The original planter was falling apart and had numerous missing stones which made repair impossible. Along with the landscape redone by Ken and Mary Patterson and Deb Braspenninx (thank you as well) these projects were a welcomed facelift to make a lovely attraction to the front of our hall. Thank You All for your generosity and hard work. St. Catherine Finance Council

Parish Information
Tuesday Adoration is in need of someone to take adoration time from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. If you can help please call the parish office at 899-2286. St. Joseph Christian Service will be collecting non- perishable items for our Thanksgiving Food Drive through November 20th. We will distribute the donations to area families in need. It is heart-warming to see the generosity from our church family providing this need in our community. No expired items please.

Thank you for your willingness to lead the Chaplet of Divine
Mercy prayer before Mass at our cluster parishes. The Prayer
for the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will start 15 minutes before
Mass.
How to Pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy
We begin with the sign of the cross, and then pray:
The Our Father
The Hail Mary
The Apostles’ Creed
On the large beads, pray: “Eternal Father, I offer you the
Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved
Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and
those of the whole world.”
On the 10 small beads, pray: “For the sake of His sorrowful
passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
After five decades, the concluding doxology to be prayed
three times: “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal
One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
Words of JESUS - From the Diary of St. Faustina
I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me
with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it
cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other
souls.
Ladies Advent Service will be on Tuesday, November 29th
at 6:00 PM. You can purchase your tickets for $8 a person
in the back of church the weekends of Nov. 12th & 13th, Nov.

4:00 pm. Senior Euchre takes place every other Tuesday at
St. Joseph’s.
Year of Mercy Prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ, You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord
risen and glorified. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with His anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. Amen

FAMILY PERSPECTIVE by Bud Ozar The question of the Sadducees to Jesus is framed in a story about a family with seven brothers and their sister-in-law. Through story telling families remember their shared past and expose the companionship of God in your family from generation to generation.
On November 27th Council #4404 of the
Knights of Columbus will be putting on a
breakfast at their hall to help raise funds
for the Cluster Parish Youth Group's trip
to the March for Life! Please help support the lives of the
unborn by attending and supporting the cause. A delicious
breakfast will be served 8:30AM-1PM
Next week our parish will take up the Collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The AMS relies solely on private donors in support of its mission, “Serving those who serve” and its ministry to provide the same pastoral care and services to Catholics serving in the United States Armed Forces, enrolled in U.S. Military Academies, undergoing treatment at any of the 153 Department of Veterans Affairs’ Medical Centers, working in civilian jobs for the federal government beyond U.S. borders and the families of these populations as does any other Catholic diocese. Please prayerfully consider a generous donation to this special triennial collection.
