  • WHERE FAITH WOULD BE NURTURED AND GREAT MINDS COULD TAKE FLIGHT.

    48379new.indd 248379new.indd 2 3/30/16 3:52 PM3/30/16 3:52 PM

  • When Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley founded Seton Hall in 1856, he envisioned a place where faith would be nurtured and great minds

could take fl ight. He dreamed that Catholic ideals would infuse the curriculum, and that graduates would become strong, ethical leaders

who would serve their nation. Inspired by his aunt Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Bishop Bayley knew that once a sparkfor servant leadership ignited in a students heart, it would burn for a lifetime.

The dream of Bishop Bayley is still our dream today. We strive to strengthen our identity as a place of transformativeintellectual, moral and spiritual growth, all while pursuing greater excellence in American higher education. Now the combined efforts

of the entire University community have led Seton Hall to an unprecedented momentthe extraordinary goal of becomingone of the top 75 national universities and top fi ve Catholic universities in the United States by 2025.

This publication will tell the story of our striking progress over the past fi ve years toward achieving that goal. Strategic investment in key

academic areas is positioning Seton Hall as a leader on the national and global stages. Our new School of Medicinethe only private school of its kind in the stateand the creation of a College of Communication and the Arts have raised our academic profi le tonew heights. And with more than $134 million in capital improvements in recent years, our beautiful campus is more inspiring than ever.

These signifi cant achievements have helped Seton Hall enroll its largest undergraduate classes in four decades, while the average SAT score of incoming freshmen increased by nearly 100 points since 2009. And we are especially proud that students who are

eligible for federal Pell grants make up 30 percent of our student body. Overall, our students impressive credentials have contributed to the

Universitys substantial rise in U.S. News & World Reports annual rankings of Americas Best Colleges.

This dynamic momentum will do far more than enhance Seton Halls stature. It will allow us to more fully realize the commitment

to intellectual, moral and spiritual development that Bishop Bayley instilled in the University at its inception. And it will enable our

institution to better serve the great minds that have always been a part of our DNA.

I invite you to learn more about Seton Halls recent accomplishments and see for yourself what great minds can do when working together

to ensure the Universitys bright future. Go Pirates!

  • TOGETHER,WERE BUILDING AHEALTHIER FUTURE.Our partnership with Hackensack University Health Network will position us to be one of only six Catholic universities in the nation with a School of Medicine as well as the only private medical school in New Jersey. This is our opportunity to educate a new generation of healthcare practitioners with a dedication to service in an industry that desperately needs them.

We are also creating a new national model for healthcare education. By moving the College of Nursing and School of Health and Medical Sciences to a new Health and Medical Sciences campus housing the medical school, we will equip our students to function as members of collaborative healthcare teams.

This model reflects the future of health care, and as the preeminent center for Catholic health sciences education we will attract the best students from around the globe.
