What I started about 20 years ago, was almost forgotten. Being a curator in the 1990’s in Sydney, Australia, I wanted to venture back into the art world. Even though I am not a trained artist, my discoveries of my own talents are resurfacing with the curatorial work I do for Gabo Manchano Gallery.
The gallery’s approach is to help the artist make an important step internationally and to gain exposure to a much wider community. We focus on the artist and support their talent.
This is niche, not nationalism. An objective to bring forth a unique perspective of artists from a different culture: humans creating and exploring their world through art.

Being a freelance artist by myself, I know very well the difficult situation a young artist has when starting one’s career after graduating from university. You have to prove yourself by exhibiting your works. The problem is that exhibiting art in private galleries usually needs financial support that young people do not have. If you get a job to earn money, then most likely you will not have time to create art anymore. There-fore, I‘ve dreamt of establishing a gallery where young artists could exhibit their art, free of charge.
It must have been fate that led me to Michael when I moved to London. At that time he was in the begin-ning of establishing Gabo Manchano Gallery. It became more and more clear that we have very similar visions and this is how our collaboration began. Like Michael, I really do believe in the creativity of young Estonian artists and their capability to break through internationally. With the Gabo Manchano Gallery project, we are offering them not only an opportunity to exhibit in Estonia and London, but also a starting platform for breaking through in the London’s art mecca and sharing contacts. The rest is up to them.
