This a~ticle written.' by an unspoken admir er of our organiza tion evolves around a personali ty of whom many of our club mem bel'S have no conception of the laborious tasks performed so unselfishly. The devotion to duty to provide support to our wellrounded club activities are very seldom recognized. Ferhaps, some of you lit~rally have noticed the work being done by this person, but gave little thought and must have regarded her as a fre quent figure around our club. I have had the oppOrtunity of being tutored under her guidance for 6 months and have realized what it takes to be a perfectionist. This,

' to my dismay, can only be accomp l1shed by proper ~idance and an interest and desire to perfect a group of amatuers. The person I 3lll referring to is none other

BAKER OHAPl'.ER NUS Somehow, 1ostintively, or

by mental telepathy, Bakerites get ogether anyway when there are no regular meetings sohedu led or after a oertain laps of

1ms o

Just :0 prove this moot poi nt in ~estion, not knowing th at any meet ing of any R:1od' had been soheduled, I went down to the olubhouse to have a meeting with Bob Kadowaki end his inoo ming offioers on Deoember 29, to discuss Baker plans o Bob Sakoki called regarding Apartment Build ing Project, and was induoed to come down also.

The Installation Oommittee had also called a meeting and it was in full progress, being oonducted by Kengo Mi yan 0 , chair man, replacing Bernard Akamine bound for Arizona on an insuran oe convention~ Mike Miyake was present as n member of the com mittee:

After the busina ss had been all taken up 1'0 r the night by all parties, and Bakerites had all joined forces, the question of a NIJIKAI was brought up, as per "custom".

Oyabun (DO) suggested a new plaoe in Waikiki, the AUGUST MOON for this snaok-time--a few before goi~ home for the eveing.

Surprisingly, unexp:lcted -4-

things do happen rarely wi th this bunch, b.l t--this was one such night when the unexpeoted DID happen.

We bwnped into (or was it vioe versa, we don't know?) a member of Club 100, Roy Nakada, now residing 10 Okinawa and having the unofficial title or "Mayor of Okinawa18 • That was itl And time stood still--as reminisoenoe blossomed. And a short NIJIKAI ended up with us olosing up the joint. Follow 1ng which, found us looking for a breakfast spot-- on a Weekday night at that too ! 10)1 being closed, we ended up at the KC Drive-In for Breakfast at 2 AM.

0000000000

Two days prior--Sunday evening, on the 27th of Decem ber, after the Baseball meeting, HK, Oyabun 0, and myself visit ed the same AUGUST MOON for a snack. Since only Oaybun was 10 a drinking mood, this ND"I KAI ended up at an early hour to permit us to be home and in bed by midnight.

00000000

On January 3rd the sa.roo trio went to the clubhouse to bang out the baseball rules and reuglations am. Whatnots . HK joined us later that night.

Being stymied by the sche dule, it was decided that HK and HK will take home the sche dule for "homework" and wi th that we looked for a saimin stand for a NIJIKAI.

Beoause Sekiyats was clo sed, we settled f or tl:e Kala kaua ani King Sa1m1n Stand.

REPORT ON OUR DREAM CASTIE By Bob Sakoki

I am happy to announce at this tine that our d ream castle, the 23- unit apartnent building to be known as th e KAMOKU APARTLENTS will becom~ a reality in six months. .

It was only 7 months ago that our (0 mmittee members first got together to map out plans to utilize the vacant club property and to put it to sone productive use in order to ease our financial position in tre future.

YOU MAY NOT REALIZE IT, BUT it take s roughly $12,000 to $13,000 annually to ope rate our Club . Our annual defici t bas been approximately $5,000 for the calendar year 1958 and this condition will exist for some time into 1959.

Realizing this Situation, the committee decided to look into the possi bUit y of building a sizeable apartnent unit, that once it is paid for, will help

MEMBERS AND WIVES OF ABLE CliAPl'ER: HAPPY NEW YEAR to all from

your 1959 officers; Mits Fukuda, Tommy Nishioka, Seie Oshiro, and John Sakaki.

For the past several years now, our Bakerite Gounsins have been enjoying the enviable posi tion of being the most active Chapter at meetings and otherwise. They should be congratu lated, und more power to them.

There is nothing in the books that says Able Gh~ter can not attain that position.
