The Columbarium garden is a peaceful prayer filled garden, offers a special area for prayer and reflection. You can reserve a Niche in the Columbarium by making an Application for the intended use by either yourselves or others. You will be asked to sign a contract and pay for the Niche. The cost is $1,865 (incl GST) and this includes the reservation of the Niche, cost of the Memorial Plaque, engraving and blessing. For further information please contact the Parish Office. VOCATION VIEW: Has not God chosen the poor of the world to inherit the kingdom? Chosen to be rich in faith. So take heart, be not afraid, consider

your part in God's Kingdom.

‘THE JOY OF LOVE’ FROM POPE FRANCIS Looking to Jesus: The Vocation of the Family

Lifelong sharing

124. A love that is weak or infirm, incapable of accepting marriage as a challenge to be taken up and fought for, reborn, renewed and reinvented until death, cannot sustain a great commitment. It will succumb to the culture of the ephemeral that prevents a constant process of growth. Yet “promising love for ever is possible when we perceive a plan bigger than our own ideas and undertakings, a plan which sustains us and enables us to surrender our future entirely to the one we love”. If this love is to overcome all trials and remain faithful in the face of everything, it needs the gift of grace to strengthen and elevate it. In the words of Saint Robert Bellarmine, “the fact that one man unites with one woman in an indissoluble bond, and that they remain inseparable despite every kind of difficulty, even when there is no longer hope for children, can only be the sign of a great mystery”.

Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time : Year B

First Reading: Isaiah 35: 4-7 For the prophet Isaiah, we will know we are in the presence of God when we see the eyes of the blind opened and the ears of the deaf cleared. God’s presence is life giving, offering freedom from oppression and death.

Second Reading: James 2: 1-5 In the eyes of God, the distinctions we make between rich and poor mean nothing: we are invited to see each other through the eyes of God.

Gospel: Mark 7: 31-37 In the healing of a deaf man, and the restoration of his speech, the people react with wonder and amazement, and begin to recognise that they are in the presence of the One sent from God.

(Grades 6-8) TO THE HEIGHTS: a series based on journeying to the “source

and summit of the Christian life” - EUCHARIST. Through a pro-gressive, metaphorical mountain climb, youth will realise their calling to climb the mountain of faith, what gear they need to do so and the terrain and seasons that they will be navigating through. The first night - Base Camp, introduced the series through a

camp based social for youth and family. Second night : Gearing through seasons

Introduced “liturgy” and its various forms as gears, and guided through all the liturgical seasons. Third Night : Navigating the Terrain

Familiarised with the place of worship, attire and decorum Fourth Night: The Approach

Introduced the liturgical and sacramental richness of Mass

Grades 9-12) QUESTION EVERYTHING: an ‘apologetics’ series that promotes

‘healthy questioning’ as a springboard to grow in knowledge of God’s love and trust in Catholic Church, rather than feeling shame or fear about it or rejecting God either. It would examine four major obstacles to embracing our faith. First night, GOD OR

UNICORN, explored the existence of God, how he continues to be

present through some encounter experiences and testimonies. Second night, RELIGION OR FREEDOM, explored Organised

Religion—our innate pull towards it and the need for it Third night: HOLY OR HYPROCRITE

Hypocrisy, Judgement and Tolerance - Church of imperfect people, yet is the pathway to sanctification and holiness Sunday 9th September: TRUST OR FEAR

Causes of suffering, and how turning to suffering Jesus can transform our suffering to something beneficial.

ReMAINING YOUTH NITES FOR TERM 3

#Provision #Courage #Revelation #Miracle #Confidence #Power

Today’s Gospel is a little gruesome. It is the most physical of Jesus’ miracles. He sticks His finger

into a deaf-mute’s ear and spits on his tongue. Why does Jesus do all this? Why all this awkward physical contact? Jesus could have healed the deaf-mute with less than a wave of His hand, but He

didn’t? Why not? The answer is simple, Jesus wanted the deaf-mute to know the experience of being

healed. He wants the deaf-mute to feel Him and know it is happening.

Jesus does the same thing to us day after day in the sacraments. He engages us with lots

of awkward physical contact. He pours water over our heads in Baptism, washing away original sin.

He smears His oil-drenched thumb over our forehead in Confirmation, giving us the Holy Spirit. He

gives us His flesh and blood to eat and drink in the Eucharist. He does this so that we know the

moment we come into contact with Him and the moment He did something life-changing to us.

Because of the impact sacraments have on your senses and the promises Jesus makes with each

of them, you know it happens. When you go to confession, and the words of the priest, “I absolve

you” hit your eardrums, you know for a fact, you are absolved.

Physical touch can be an important part of human relationships. It communicates

something: you are my friend, my family, my beloved. Jesus communicates the same to the deaf-mute. He communicates the same to us in a few moments in the Eucharist.

KEY THEMES:

1. God’s mercy knows no limit.

2. God desires our restoration and freedom even more than we do!

3. Christ, alone, heals our spiritual infirmities — our deafness, our blindness, etc.

4. What brings great glory on Earth is nothing in comparison to the great glory of heaven.
