i paint. i enjoy fast paintings, using lots of paint. my paintings have a theme of vertical brush strokes going through the image, whatever it may be. i use a pallet of cool colors, with hits of warm colors. i have focused in on painting chickens. i think they are visually interesting and are easily recognizable, letting me become freer with the physical form of the bird. i have taken the theme of chickens and applied it to many different mediums, including Printmaking, Design, and Photography. i consider myself a well-rounded artist, but my medium of choice will always be paint.

my first memory of seeing art is Vincent Van Gough, i have grown up trying to imitate him, and with failure to do so i have created my own style. not only his art has inspired me, but the way he lived his day to day life inspires me as well. “What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?” is a quote from Van Gough, the fact that art was the most important thing in his life, finding ways to paint even when he could not afford to. its passionate people like this that make me want to push myself to become a better artist. although he was never successful while living he wrote to his brother in a letter once, “i am now at the beginning of the beginning of doing something serious”, and i feel i am at the beginning of the beginning of the beginning... .

i have never understood why i have been so focused on becoming an artist, but i know it makes me happy, and i will continue doing it until it stops. To me being an artist means so many possibilities, there are many ways to create and interpret art, so focusing on pleasing people is impossible. i feel my art is done with me in mind, and i create it for me.

my future is very unclear, i am still looking for a field in the world where i will be able to survive and create. my location is negotiable as i feel i have no ties to any specific city. i imagine myself working in a team of professionals who create things, having many different projects, and always keeping busy is an ideal situation for my future. i will let you know when i decide on a career.

i will continue making art, trying different mediums and really exploring the chicken ideas i have. i plan to travel to a busy city where no one will know who i am, then to a small town where everyone knows everyone. i will continue to create for me, and hope people enjoy what i have made, if not that’s cool.
