Lot 105105 Pair of Flintlock travelling pistols by H.W. Mortimer & Son, 87 Fleet Street, London, Gun Makers to His Majesty No. 1295 circa 1810, Signed re-browned octagonal twist barrels, engraved breech tangs fitted with back sights, signed border, engraved bolted locks, the frizzen springs fitted with rollers. ‘French’ cocks, figured walnut stocks, the butts each cut with characteristics pineapple chequering and engraved blued steel mounts including trigger guards inscribed ‘89 Fleet Stt’ and with pineapple finials. Vacant silver escutcheons and horn tipped wooden ramrods. Presented in the original fitted oak case with trade label, accessories include Dixon powder flask, bullet mould (40br) cleaning rod with screen and attachment. Ball and flints. Excellent condition throughout Realised £3,100
108 Webley six shot 120 bore revolver with Deluxe engraving retailed by W.R. Pape, Newcastle upon Tyne, circa 1857. Presented in the original fitted mahogany case containing bullets, ivory grease pot and cover, bullet mould, oil bottle, percussion caps (Fredrick Joyce, London, waterproof pistol caps), cleaning brush and powder flask. Brass plaque with engraving Joseph Crowhall Esq., Morpeth and is believed to have been purchased and belonged ‘Glasgow Boy’ Joseph Crawhall, Scottish Artist (1861 - 1913) born Morpeth. Possibly purchased for his protection during his stay in Tangier where he lived and worked for many years Realised £2,800
