Editor’s Letter

a n e w s e a s o n , a n e w l o o k , a n e w a t t i t u d e . This season the news from the run-ways of New York, London, Paris, and Milan was all about pattern. What caught our eyes was the way disparate patterns were mixed; camouflage, floral, dots, and stripes can all live happily together. We have brought together the best for this issue, the message being, do not be afraid to mix, match, and layer at will!

Color was a strong message from the runways as well. After many seasons of gray, gray, and more gray, it was refreshing to see a clear consensus amongst designers that color was back. From shell pink to lavender, aqua to forest green, there is sure to be a shade that will work for you.

Also in this issue, we catch up with the Girls; they are turning heads this season with the freshest new take on eyewear. Farther afield, we travel to Peru where artisans are crafting the lushest throws from Alpaca yarn. Our travels also take us to India, where the news is all about hand-screened textiles. Then on to Sweden where we discover that a traditional method of making serving trays is still being practiced.

Last but not least, we introduce you to a hot new designer accessories brand out of New York. Siren Song, combining old world craftsmanship with a little wit and style, their combs and accessories are on every editor’s must have list.

In Greek mythology, Sirens possessed beauty but were considered dangerous, as they lured any sailors that were near with their enchanting music and voices. The sailors would be drawn near by the music and would shipwreck on the Sirens’ island. Siren Song is inspired by the sea, but is not entirely of it. It is masculine, but has its feminine side as well.

For the debut collection, we have fo-cused on a collection of natural buffalo horn combs and brooches. These items are hand made by craftsmen in Vietnam and each is unique.
