CLEVELAND HEIGHTS
Cleveland Heights will look for its sixth straight win when the Tigers host Bedford
in an LEL matchup on Oct. 11.
Bedford has a stud junior tight end in Malik Simmons and a talented senior safety
in JaSean Calloway, who had four interceptions entering last week. Senior
linebacker Devin Hibbitt leads team in tackles and sacks.
Heights hasn't lost since Week 1 and is trying to stay unbeaten in the LEL and
remain in the Division I, Region 1 playoff hunt.
Quarterback Bay Harvey has emerged as a top-tier dual threat while leading the
offense. Elijah Fowlkes and Justin Wodtly pace a solid ground game. Jayvion
Holcomb is dangerous in the passing game.
Defensively, Diego Bremer, Nick McGhee and Jiovanny Holmes are among the
most consistent playmakers.

BEARCATS NEW HEAD COACH
Bedford has selected Charles Saulter as its next football
coach. This will be Saulter's first head coaching job. His
previous football coaching stops include Case Western
Reserve (wide receivers coach the last two seasons),
Revere, Brush, GlenOak and Chippewa.
Saulter's hiring was announced in April, following a search
to replace Sean Williams after the former resinged for
personal reasons.
"This position is truly a dream come true for me," Saulter
said in a release by the school. "I look forward to meeting
parents and community members.

Cleveland Heights stayed hot, opening LEL play by
winning its fifth straight game with a 35-28 victory at
Lorain on Oct. 4.
A strong running game keyed by Elijah Fowlkes,
Justin Wodtly and Bay Harvey along with a timely
passing game allowed the Tigers to jump out to a
lead and hang on late for the win.
“It was nice to get our first win in conference play,
but once again we made the game closer than it
should have been,” Heights coach Mac Stephens
said. “Lorain had some outstanding skill players
who made some great plays against our defense,
but this week our offense bailed us out.
“The offensive line played well from start to finish,
which helped us get our sophomore running back
Elijah Fowlkes into a nice rhythm, in fact, he had 94
yards on 11 carries which helped open up the
passing game where we had some major size and
speed advantages.”
Harvey had a pair of rushing touchdowns and he
also threw for a score.
“Bay Harvey continues to make big plays when we
need them on offense. He is truly becoming a more
effective dual threat quarterback each week,”
Stephens said.
Heights led, 6-0, at the end of one quarter and 20-7
at halftime. Jayvion Holcomb caught a TD and
Fowlkes ran one in to lift Heights to the advantage.
Jiovanny Holmes had a huge game on defense with
an interception and a fumble recovery.
Wodtly and Harvey each ran for a touchdown in the
second half to help the Tigers improve to 5-1 and 1-
0 in the LEL.

Chase, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin and Laraine
Newman, makes its debut on NBC; it will go on to become the longest-running, highest-
rated show on late-night television. The 90-minute program, which from its inception has
been broadcast live from Studio 8H in the GE Building at Rockefeller Center, includes a
different guest host and musical act each week. The opening sketch of each show ends with
one actor saying, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”
