THRIVE WOMEN’S CONFERENCE 2018

Friday: Breakout Session A (3:00 – 4:30 PM) Bible Basics: Discover and Deepen your Understanding of the Bible Dr. Roberta Hesteness – Teaching Pastor, Bayside Granite Bay

Learning simple and foundational skills in personal and group Bible study can open up the meaning and use of the Bible for spiritual nurture, growth, and joy in the Christian life. After introducing key skills, we will practice on several texts related to women in the New Testament.

Conversational Apologetics Dena Davidson M.A. – Campus Life Director, Thrive School

Increasingly, our culture thinks faith is irrelevant and dangerous. The Christian faith is based on a book many people consider false and offensive. How do you hold tight to the truths of Scripture without being labeled a bigot? How do you stand firm when people assume you’re intolerant? Is there a way to communicate your beliefs while being full of grace and truth? This breakout will address how we as Christians can have great conversations with people about our faith.

Equipping the Next Generation to Deal with Culture Bonnie Christensen M.A. – Speaker & Bible Study Teacher

Everyone has a worldview, but few are aware how it affects daily decisions and how those decisions influence culture. If a Believer is not intentional in developing a biblical worldview, she will find herself with a worldview that is shaped by culture rather than biblically shaped. Are you feeling the pressure to conform to many confusing cultural ideas of our day? Are you at a loss how to articulate your values and beliefs? Gaining a solid grasp of your beliefs based on God’s absolute Truth is essential to making sense of our rapidly changing world. This breakout session will equip you with tools to develop your biblical worldview and own your ability to make an imprint on society by navigating culture in a Christ-honoring way.

Real Money Talk for Women Heidi Hunter – Wealth Advisor, Thrivent Financial

Many women will face life-changing financial decisions, including losing a spouse, caring for parents and/or children, or experiencing divorce. Most will also enjoy a longer life expectancy than our male counterparts! Often, women defer decisions or are too busy to think about important money matters, but denial or ignorance does not change the outcome. Understand financial concepts like how to manage your money wisely, impact of Social Security, protection needs, retirement investment and income strategies so you can be informed to make good decisions now and in the years to come.

Self-Awareness Through the Enneagram Nancy Beach – Key Note Speaker

The most dangerous leaders are those who lack in self-awareness. Together we will explore the Enneagram, a tool that has proven helpful for many to grow in seeing their blind spots, their strengths, and the areas where transformation is most needed. Nancy Beach is a trained teacher of this tool, and will introduce all 9 types using many examples and personal stories.

Spiritual Warfare: Battling Against Trials, Temptations, and Testing Gil Steiglitz – Discipleship & Groups Pastor, Bayside Granite Bay

Spiritual Warfare is real. Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness. When we face spiritual opposition, temptation, fear and doubt, how do we fight back? Our society and culture has tried to hide the spiritual battles that all of us face. We have become ignorant about the spiritual world and spiritual influences. Most Christians do not know how to spiritually take the power, grace and mercy of Jesus Christ and live a victorious life. In this seminar we will explain the four basic elements of winning at Spiritual Warfare and show you how to grow strong in the Lord.
