are manufactured with a full bore port, rising stemOS&Y and with floating seats and gate, pressure energized, for a bubble tight shut off upstream anddownstream under both low and high differential pressure.Double block and bleed capability and automatic relief of excess body pressure are a standard feature of this seat design.The smooth, continuous bore minimizes turbulencewithin the valve and when in the open position it produces a pressure drop equivalent to a portion ofpipe of the same length and diameter. The seat faces are outside the flow stream and therefore protected from the erosive action of the flow. Pigs and scrapers can be run through the valvewithout damage.

Stem/Stem sealThe stem is designed with a threaded-inT bar allowing relative motions of thegate under line pressure. The stem seal uses braided graphitegaskets ensure sealing integrity. Stemsealant injection system is achievedthrough a port located on the bonnet. In case of leakage through the stem sealit is possible to inject the sealantthrough the stem packing release valve.

SeatSeats are ENP coated and are providedwith thermoplastic soft insert on theirface. A “double face seal” effect is obtaineddue to metallic contact between the seatand the gate, thus increasing thereliability of the valve. Metal-to-metalseating is available for abrasive service.In such case gate and seat faces arecoated with HVOF Tungsten Carbidecoating.

Easy maintenanceValbart Srl Through Conduit Slab Gate valvedesign minimizes and eases the maintenanceallowing for the service operations to be donewithout the removal of the valve from the line.

Double Block and BleedDouble block and bleed capability andautomatic relief of excess body pressure arestandard features of Valbart Through Conduit Slab Gate Valves. With the valve fully closed and pressure onboth sides, it is possible to bleed thepressure from the body cavity to check seatseal integrity and to achieve double isolationbetween the two sides and avoid any risk ofproduct contamination

Fire-safe designValbart Through Conduit Slab Gate valve isavailable in the API 6FA fire-tested design. Fire-tests have been witnessed and certified byindependent authorities. Valbart Fire testedgate valves offer the highest resistanceagainst fire. The body seal is a spiral woundgraphite/AISI 316 gasket and the stem seal isa die-formed/braided graphite packing. The stem incorporates the back seat featureto allow stem seal re-packing with valve inservice. Fire-tests certification is available andcan be provided upon request.

Fully piggableValbart Through Conduit Slab Gate Valves aredesigned to be Fully Piggable. Pigs andscrapers can be run through the valve withoutany damage to the internal structure of thevalve.

Single piston effect seatsSeats rings are floating type and are energizedagainst the gate by means of helical springs.The initial seating is enough to assure sealingbetween gate and upstream seat when the linepressure is applied. The gate allows axialmovement and the upstream force derived fromline pressure force the gate against thedownstream seat creating a double, bubbletight barrier.

MAIN APPLICATIONS

Principle of operationThe Through Conduit Double Expanding Gate Valvecomprises of a two piece wedged shape assemblyconsisting of a Gate and a Segment. The Gate is attached and driven by the stem and acentralizer helps in retaining the Gate-Segmentassembly until sealing through expansion is required.Positive sealing is achieved in both high and lowpressure conditions by expanding the Gate and theSegment out towards the seats while in a closedposition.

Gate in fully open positionIn a fully open position, the Segment is incapable of

further upward movement and the Gate slides upwardsalong the wedge angle of the Segment, expanding both

the Gate and the Segment. The centralizer mechanism allows the Gate-Segment

assembly to expand against the seats and protect theseat faces from the line flow.

Gate in running positionIn the running position, the centralizer holds theassembly together, preventing relative movementbetween the Gate and Segment and holding themin a neutral position until sealing expansion is required

Gate in fully closed positionWith the Segment incapable of further downward movement,

simultaneous upstream and downstream sealing is achieved whenthe centralizer mechanism allows the Gate-Segment to expand,

sealing against both seats.

Fire-safe designValbart Through Conduit Expanding Gate valve isavailable in the API 6FA fire-tested design. Fire-testshave been witnessed and certified by independentauthorities. Valbart Fire tested gate valves offer thehighest resistance against fire. The body seal is aspiral wound gasket or Ring Joint / BX depending onthe valve service and rating, and the stem seal is adie/formed /braided graphite packing.Fire-tests certification is available and can be providedupon request.

Double block & bleedDouble block and bleed capability is a standard featureof Valbart Through Conduit Expanding Gate Valves.With the valve fully closed and pressure on both sides,it is possible to bleed the pressure from the bodycavity to check seat seal integrity.

Double isolationThis feature is obtained since the valve sealing isgranted not only by the line pressure but also by theexternal force used to close the valve ( i.e. positivesealing)

The “Double Block and Bleed Isolation Philosophy” requires two in-line isolation valves and a

bleed valve, used to drain or vent trapped fluid between the two closure elements in order to

safely isolate safely the downstream pipe. This feature can be achieved with one single valves

c/w a bleed port between the obturators.

Design is available in side entry, (bolted, welded body) and for onshore, offshore (top side) or sub-sea configurations.

Bleed/Vent system can be provided with Globe, Gate or Ball valves as per customers requirement.
