PRELUDE Here I Am, Lord arr. Jack Schrader
* CALL TO WORSHIP (Responsive) / Screen (alluding to Luke 22)
One: Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us. As we gather in this place,
allow your Spirit to fill our very being.
Many: As we worship today, we remember our brothers and sisters who
worship throughout the world. Inspire us to work more faithfully
for justice and dignity of life everywhere.
One: Raise our vision above the barriers of color, culture and creed that
separate us. Give us wisdom as we deal with one another; help us to
respect different ways, rather than to judge.
Many: In the spirit of Jesus who came not to be served but to serve, we
now must walk in the world, we must now reach out our hands
with help and open our hearts in love. Awaken in us the desire to
seek your way of serving you in the world.
One: Come people of God, rejoice!
Many: Come, let us worship together so we may go and serve!

WEDNESDAY MORNING MEN’S BIBLE STUDY - Meeting weekly at 8AM, join us as we explore the Kingdom Parables of Jesus as recorded in Matthew Chapter 13. As a church, we pray each Sunday for God’s Kingdom to come on Earth. The objective of the study is to discover ways in which we can engage in family and community to do just that – bring His rule of mercy, justice and love into being to a greater degree in all that we do and say. SHEPHERDS WANTED - If God is prompting you to encourage your fellow adults in their walk of faith, fall would be a great time to start a small group or adult Sunday School class. Share your ideas with Linda Saunders or Ed Kross. Or complete the small group proposal on the Get Connected section of our website.

LFS DINNER AND DONATIONS - Liberation Family Services (LFS) currently provides transitional and rapid-rehousing assistance to single adult males, with a focus on serving veterans. A team from The Brandermill Church will be preparing and taking dinner to LFS on Sunday, September 4th. We will meet at the church at 4:00 to prepare the meal, leave for the shelter at 5:30, and will return to the church around 8:00. In addition to dinner, our team would like to collect and take donations of the following items, as requested by LFS: toilet paper, Pine Sol, male toiletries (soap, shaving cream, deodorant), gently used men’s clothing (preferably business casual and business professional), computer paper, and canned food items. You may bring donations to the Fellowship Hall and place in the bin marked Liberation Family Services. If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact Jeff Branyon at 320-3616 or [email protected]. MERCY MALL is excited to partner with Guardians this year to support 500 children entering grades K-12th participating in the Backpack Program at Scott Elementary, Scott Middle, Meadowbrook HS and Thomas Dale HS. MORNING PRAYER AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Unison)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom
come; thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

* PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Unison) / Screen
Everlasting God, we are so thankful for this opportunity to give. Our joy
is tempered by the knowledge that so many of your children suffer in
war- ravaged countries and impoverished cities. Multiply these gifts so
that those oppressed by injustice may experience your care. Awaken us
so that our need to act faithfully against all injustice is reflected in how
we speak and how we serve. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.
