News

LAMY dialog 3 black Lamy is the leading German designer brand among brand-name writing instrument manufacturers with

international significance. Lamy writing instruments are developed and produced at the Heidelberg site.

The highest quality in technology and processing as well as a modern, independent and functional design

are the aspects that distinguish Lamy. Once again for the year 2012, we have lots of interesting, top-selling product innovations: The LAMY dialog 3 black (page 9) is the world’s first fountain pen without a cap where both the nib and clip can be retracted into the pen - now also available in a sleek matt-black finish. The timeless classic, LAMY 2000, will be available for the first time from 2012 as a fountain pen, ballpoint pen and rollerball in a full metal version (page 9, 22 and 40). The imperial blue colour for the LAMY studio (page 12, 24 and 42) is also new and replaces the previous

blue colour version from LAMY studio. The impetus felt in school and youth supplies is served by the new, olive-coloured version of the successful youth fountain pen series, LAMY nexx M (model 090, page 19), along with the new ink eraser, LAMY ink-x (page 55).

Design Awards

Simply

award-winning

Lamy writing instruments are frequent award-winners.

They are regularly awarded with high quality designer

prizes. The LAMY pico and LAMY noto, for example,

won the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of

Germany. The LAMY accent, LAMY dialog 1, LAMY

dialog 2, LAMY dialog 3, LAMY studio and LAMY pur

were all awarded the Good Design Award from the

famous Chicago Athenaeum.

With the LAMY noto, Lamy has the writing

instrument awarded with the most international

design prizes in its collection.

The Good Design Award was estab-

lished by the curator of the Museum

of Modern Art in New York, Edgar

Kaufmann Jr., together with Charles

and Ray Eames. It is the oldest and

most highly regarded award in the

world for the best innovative and

modern product design. The design competition for products

has existed since 1955. Its prize, the

“red dot”, is an internationally recog-

nised seal of quality. The best

products are given the award with the

red dot: best of the best

The best design earns the best prize: or to be

more precise, the “Designpreis Deutschland”

(Design Prize Germany). It is awarded

annually by the council for design for

excellence in product and communications

design. The “Designpreis Deutschland” is the

prize of all prizes and prize for the award-

winner. It is an award for excellent work. Since 1953, iF has been inviting international

manufacturers and designers to pit

themselves against the competition with their

designs. Design experts from all over the

world come together each year to form the iF

jury and assess the submitted designs.
