Thuraya satellite communications for allGSMK CryptoPhonesThe GSMK CryptoPhone T2 is an add-on device toGSMK CryptoPhone systems that enables the useof the Thuraya satellite system for secure calls.The system consists of a docking station that attachesto the Thuraya phone and works via a wirelessconnection with a GSMK CryptoPhone 200, 220or G10 that has a special Thuraya-capable firmwareinstalled. The user places the T2 with the Thurayaphone in a spot with good Thuraya coverage.A wireless connection is then established betweenhis CryptoPhone and the T2. Now secure calls canbe placed over the Thuraya network while movingaround in a range of several meters around the T2unit, just like with a cordless phone. The T2 is usedto transport the signal (that has already beenencrypted inside the CryptoPhone) over the Thurayasatellite telephony network. The wireless connectionbetween his CryptoPhone and the T2 poses nosecurity risk, as it is only used to transport alreadyencrypted data.

InteroperabilityFully compatible with all GSMK CryptoPhone devices.Incoming secure calls on a CryptoPhone in Thurayamode may be dependent on current Thuraya networkstatus and local operator gateway agreements withThuraya. Outgoing secure calls from Thuraya to othernetworks always work regardless of these factors.
