Flomaton Lion Larry White was recognized with a 40-year membership pin, although he could not be present, and Lion Wayne Key received a 10-year membership pin. Bowles became a resident of Flomaton when he met and married Mary Frances Hendricks in 1957. Bowles began working for Mary Frances’ father, Mr. Hendricks, who was a member of the Flomaton Lions Club. Mr. Hendricks strongly encouraged Bowles to become a member, which he did, in 1958. Bowles has been a member since 1958 and was recognized with a 60-year pin and plaque at the reception, which were graciously accepted by his wife and daughter since he is in the hospital. Flomaton Mayor Dewey Bondurant, members of the Flomaton United Methodist Church where Bowles is a member, including Pastor Kathy McKinley, and others came to see Alabama Lions District 34-C Governor Elect Andy Marshall from Headland and Alabama Lions District Governor Claudia Wigglesworth from Daleville present the awards and enjoy cake and punch in honor of Flomaton Lions who have committed to serve their communities for so long. Flomaton High School Leos Megan Smith and Alexis Allen, sponsored by Lion Jaye Jaye Hagan, served refreshments to guests. Mary Frances Bowles accepts plaque from Lion Pres.
