IIT Delhi does a major Curriculum Review once every 10 years, and a Mid- Term Curriculum Review once every 5 years. These efforts are done to keep the curriculum and degree pro- grammes updated and fu- ture-ready, incorporating the demands of the evolving industry, mainstream R&D laboratories across the country and the require- ments of the society and the nation. During the major Curric- ulum Review (once every 10 years), in addition to keep the curriculum abreast with national mission pro- grammes, etc. feedback is taken from all stakeholders, namely, facul- ty, students, employers, and alumni. This feedback is as- sessed by a Curriculum Re- view Committee, which first develops a Concept Pa- per on the revision of the curriculum, and then exe- cutes it through delibera- tion and discussion. In this way, feedback of alumni is incorporated in the curricu- lum revision. It is noteworthy that many alumni are at senior scientific positions of many Govt. laboratories and many are our current fac- ulty, thus they play a dual role in keeping the curricu- lum updated. Could you give us some insights on how IIT Delhi Ensures its programs re- main future ready? As indicated above, the Concept Paper development is an elaborate process in which the existing curricu- lum and course structure is benchmarked against the best curricular practices in the top institutions around the world. This develops an overall program structure, which is then shared with Departments and Centres, who then follow the above guidelines to make state-of- the-art courses, including laboratory and project courses. These are then cen- trally moderated across the Institute and then discussed and ratified by the Senate of the Institute and its statu- tory bodies.
