The Board will have a brief Executive Session at the start of the meeting

Citizen Comment The Board of Trustees provides time for citizen comment prior to the business agenda at each meeting. The Chair of the Board
will establish time limits (usually three minutes per person) and determine any questions of appropriateness and relevancy.
Personnel decisions, collective bargaining issues, grievances, litigation and other areas excludable from public discussion under
the Maine Freedom of Access Law shall not constitute appropriate matters for such input. A person who wishes to speak during
the citizen comment period should arrive prior to the meeting start time and sign up on a sheet provided, indicating name and
topic of remarks. Action Items Tab 1 – Appointment of Chancellor

Directions to UM Campus – Wells Conference Center
From the South on I-95: take exit 191 to Kelly Road and turn right. Continue on Kelly Road for 1 mile until you reach the traffic light, then turn left onto Route 2 and go through downtown Orono. Cross the river, turn left at the lights onto College Avenue. Continue on College Ave and enter campus at the Long Road campus entrance on the right.
From the North on I-95: take exit 193 to Stillwater Avenue and turn left. Drive straight for one mile and turn right onto College Avenue. Drive one mile and turn left onto the UMaine campus (Long Road).
The Wells Conference Center and parking locations are notedon the UM campus map.

VISITOR permits authorize parking in any black lot or visitor space.
RED (Resident Student) permits authorize parking in red lots.
BLACK (Commuter Student) permits authorize parking in black lots.

5. BACKGROUND:The Chancellor Search Committee, appointed by the Chair and charged by the Board, has conducted a national search for the chancellor to succeed Chancellor James Page, who will be retiring June 30, 2019. The Search Committee has completed its work and reported to the Chair.
Chair Erwin is pleased to recommend that Dannel P. Malloy be appointed as Chancellor, effective July 1, 2019, for a three-year term.
Dannel Malloy has a long record of public service. He served as the 88th Governor of Connecticut from 2011 to 2019. Before becoming governor, he served as Mayor of the City of Stamford,Connecticut from 1995 to 2009. He also served as Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, N.Y. from 1980 to 1984. From 1984 to 1995 he was a Senior Litigation Partner in a law firm. Mr. Malloy holds a B.A. from Boston College and a J.D. from Boston College School of Law.
Mr. Malloy taught undergraduate courses in political science for twelve semesters at the University of Connecticut and is now completing an appointment as Rappaport Distinguished Visiting Professor at Boston College Law School.
6. TEXT OF PROPOSED RESOLUTION:
That the Board of Trustees appoints Dannel P. Malloy as Chancellor for a three-year term effective July 1, 2019 at an annual salary of $350,000.
