How should I start my first message to our members? First, I should thank Bettie Godfrey, our now Past President for her five years of hard work and many accomplishments; I know that Bettie will be a hard act to follow. Next, I would like to thank the Board members who have decided to move on to other activities; without them the Board would not have accomplished what has been done so well.
Now, I would like to welcome our newly elected Board members who have decided to take on the tasks and responsibilities of working with the re-elected members and me to make Nanaimo Harbour City Seniors a first choice for Seniors to join for their leisure activities.
From the feedback we have received from attendees, this years’ AGM was very well received, the level of input from the various groups representing their activities was phenomenal and I hope will continue. For me, it is vitally important that we receive feedback from the groups and members about the programs and their successes.
And now for the year to come; it is our intention to continue with our work as before, but we will be looking at ways of communicating with our members and non-members alike to highlight Bowen Park and the various other facilities around the city. Based on the information provided by the Senior’s Coordinator, our membership now stands at 1,709, up from 1,628 in 2016, that is a 5% increase.
Looking forward, the Board and I will be looking at new ideas to encourage more participation and communication. I encourage everyone to contact any of us, we need your input. So, enjoy the summer break and we will be back here in September, ready to start.
Best wishes,
