Choose three fun activities to help you practice your spelling! Try to get three in a row!
September
Rainbow Write Write each of your
words like a rainbow by tracing over them with as many colors
as you’d like!
ABB Pattern! Write your words in
an ABB color pattern!
Hidden Picture Draw and color a “back to school”
picture. Hide your words in the picture
and have a family member search for
them!
ABC Order Write your words in ABC order. Be sure to number them and
write neatly!
Secret Code Create a code using
small pictures or numbers which stand for each letter A-Z. Write your words in
the secret code! You must write the real words underneath.
Triangle Words Write your words 3
times each and make them into little word
triangles!
Fun Fonts Type your words on
the computer or iPad. Type each word in a different font!
Bubble Letters Write your words in
bubble letters!
Flash Cards Make a flash card
for each word which includes the spelling on one side and a picture clue on the
other!

3D Words Use play-doh, model magic, or any other medium to build your words in 3D! Take a
picture of it and email it to me! I’d love to see your
work!
30 Second Words Write a T.V.
commercial using all of your spelling
words! Read it to a family member…make sure it is 30 seconds or less!
Crossword Style Write each of your words across, then down. For example:

Acrostic Poem Choose one of your spelling words. Write an acrostic poem for that word. You must also illustrate your poem. Example: fly Fun in the sky Laps around clouds Yes!
I’m free!
Back Writing Have a family
member write the words on your back while you write them
on the page! Practice writing on
their back!
Square Words Write your words four times each in
the shape of a word square!
Blue Vowels Write your words
with blue vowels and use a color of your
choice for the consonants!
Adding Words Consonants are
worth 10, vowels are worth 5. Add up the values of the letters
in each word and write the totals!
Practice Test Have a family
member give you a practice spelling
test. Score it when you are finished!

Bubble Letters Write your words in
bubble letters!
Spelling Bees Draw and color an
outdoor picture. Count your spelling words.
Draw a bee for each of your spelling words.
Then write the words inside each of the
“spelling” bees. Write neatly!
Word Train Write the entire list end-to-end as one long word, using different colored crayons for each
word.
Colorful Words Write each of your
spelling words. Write each letter using a different colored
pencil.
Dot Writing Write your spelling words in dots. Then connect the dots by tracing over them
with a colored pencil.
Consonant/Vowel Sort
Write all of your words in your
neatest writing, then circle the
consonants and underline the vowels!
Create an Activity
Can you think of a fun way to practice your spelling words? Go for it! Be sure to explain what you did so you can share it
with us!
Fancy Letters Write your spelling words neatly, then go back and write
them a second time
using fancy letters!
Silly Spelling Story Write a goofy
spelling story using each of your spelling
words. Be sure to underline
your words as you use them. Illustrate
and color your story!

Friendly Letter Write a friendly
letter to a friend or to me! Use all of
your spelling words in the letter!
Underline the words.
Magazine Clip Use an old magazine
and find your words (or the letters that make up your word). Cut it
out and glue it on your paper.
Concentration Write each of your words on two different index cards.
Turn all the cards face down and mix them up. Lay out
your cards in rows and flip over two cards at a time.
Read each card aloud to see it they match. Keep them if they do or flip
over and try again.
Making Music Write a song or rap that includes your
words! Share with a friend or family
member.
Your Choice! Write your spelling words using one of
your favorite activities from this
year!
Other Hand If you are right
handed, write your spelling words using your left hand. If you
are left handed, write your spelling words using your
right hand.
Pyramid Words Write your spelling words in a pyramid shape. Start with the first letter. On the next line, write the first two letters.
Continue until you have written the entire word. Example: them

Cookie Words Draw holiday
cookies! Write one word in each cookie, then decorate them
using crayon frosting!
Holiday Card Make a holiday card for a family member. Try to use as many
of your words as you can in the holiday
message.

Snowy Words Draw snowflakes! Write one word inside each one!
Snowman Draw a little snowman
for each of your words. Write the word 3 times inside the snowballs!
One large, one medium, and one small!
Rhyming Words Write each of your
spelling words. Next to each word, write a rhyming word. If necessary, your
rhyming words can be nonsense words, but make them follow the same spelling pattern.
Trifold Fold a piece of paper
into three equal parts! When your
unfold it, write your words 3 different ways…one in each
collumn. (Ex: cursive, print, rainbow)
Your Choice! Write your spelling words using one of
your favorite activities from this
year!
Secret Agent Number the alphabet from 1-26. Example: a=1, b=2, c=3, d=4,
e=5, etc. Then convert your words to a number code.
Silly Sentences Write silly sentences
that include your spelling words. Underline your
words.
Spelling Bee Practice your
spelling words in Spelling Bee style.
Spell your words out loud to a parent or
sibling.
Hot Cocoa Draw a giant cup of hot cocoa. Draw big
marshmallows on top and write your words
inside them!

one!
Rainbow Write Write each of your

Squiggly Words You are going to write
your spelling words two times. First write in regular letters. Then write the words again
in squiggly letters!
Toss a Word Toss (or roll) a ball
back and forth with a partner. You say the 1st letter, and then
toss and your partner says 2nd letter, and
so forth.
Your Choice! Write your spelling words using one of
your favorite activities from this
year!
Pot o’ Gold Draw a rainbow and pot for gold. Write your words inside
the pot!
Suess Style! Write your words, then write a silly
nonsense word that rhymes beside each
one!
Superman Letter Write a creative letter to
Superman (or another superhero). In your letter, you must use each of your spelling
words. Be sure to underline your words as
you use them.
3 Times Write each word
three times. First with a pencil, second with a crayon, third
with a marker!

Write each spelling word and then write at least two words made
from the same letters. Example: slide
