subject, and series.

Your search results will include the number of books currently available and the number of materials owned by the media center.

You may also use visual search and then select the category Books We Love to search for titles by genre or interest. Let’s look at the

other media center screen for a demonstration…

teacher during the day.2. Materials are checked out for two

weeks.3. Magazines are due back in 3 days.4. Students are allowed a maximum of 3

items checked out at one time.5. Overdue books = a fine of .10 cents

per day. 6. You cannot check out books with

fines or overdues.

Don’t forget to by the rules..

Additional information:

During lunch, students need to have a pass from a teacher.

IDs are made during 1st period announcements.

No pass needed after school

Before school and during the day, students must have a signed pass.

How do I check out a book?

•Books can be checked out for a two-week period. The two weeks are school days (weekends and holidays do not count). You must have an ID to check out your book.

•You may renew a book two times.

•Students may check out up to three books.

•You may not check a book out:

Without your ID

If you owe fines

If a book is overdue

How do I check out a magazine?

We subscribe to many GREAT magazines for just about any interest you have – from skateboarding to celebrity gossip!

BACK issues of magazines can be checked out. If the magazine has a black line drawn on the cover, it’s a back issue. Most back issues will be placed in the basket above the story collection bookshelf.

Magazines can be checked out for 3 days. Always return the magazine holder with the magazine.

Other resources you can use in the media center include:

The media center’s Reading Rocks blog. Here, students can post

their own book reviews and give feedback.

The media center webpage has homework help in every subject area, links to cool sites and fun

games, and search engine suggestions.See what we have to offer!

For fast checkouts, have your ID ready.

Hand your ID and your book to the media assistant.

You should receive a receipt when you check a book out. On the receipt, you will find the due date.

Return books at the front desk anytime during the day. Please place the book in the book drop slot. Never ask someone else to return a book for you. You are responsible for your book. You have the option to renew the book instead of returning it if you need more time to read.

Fines and overdue notices will be delivered to your homeroom teachers. Please take care of these as soon as possible. When you come in to pay a fine, make sure you have a receipt. Never pay a fine and leave without a receipt.

Reminders….

Never check a book out for someone else

– you’ll be held responsible.

Don’t expect a fine notice or overdue notice to “remind” you to turn in books – your check out receipt has the due date.

If you need to keep a book longer than 2 weeks for an assignment, come by and renew it.

Turn in late books ASAP – even if you owe a fine and do not have the money to pay for it that day.
