TILING HOW MANY TILES DO I NEED TO BUY? STEP 1 - To find out the number of tiles to buy, measure how wide and how high or long the area is that you want to tile. STEP 2 - Then multiply the width by either the height or the length of the area, this will give you the square metres of the area you need to cover. FLOOR: W X L = m 2 OR WALL: W X H = m 2 STEP 3 - To be on the safe side add an extra 10% to this number as there may be breakages or tiles that need to be cut. FLOOR: W X L + 10% = m 2 OR WALL: W X H + 10% = m 2 WHAT DO I NEED FOR A TILING PROJECT? IMPORTANT TILING TIPS H OR L W W W H OR L H OR L Tiles Grout Notched trowel Tile spacers Tile cutters Tile trimming files Tile nippers Spirit level Builderʻs line Safety goggles Thick work gloves STEP 5 - Make sure your tiles are positioned evenly by using tile spacers. The spacing between tiles should be between 8mm and 10mm. Push the tile spacers in well so that you can grout over them and still have a smooth finish. Wait 24 hours before grouting. STEP 4 - Position your second tile next to the first using your pencil cross line to get the tiles in a straight line. - Make sure that the entire surface under the tile is in contact with adhesive so that the tiles do not crack. STEP 3 - You are now ready to place your first tile onto the adhesive, on the cross, to get the tile straight. - Press the tile firmly into the adhesive and tap it down securely. STEP 2 - Never work on more than 1 square meter at a time as the adhesive may harden before you can finish. - Use the notched trowel to give the tile adhesive a good evenly ridged surface to secure the tiles. - It is important that your tile adhesive is mixed to a thick and even consistency for spreading. STEP 1 - Start in the middle of the area to be tiled and never on the edges or sides. - Work out the position of the tiles to make sure you are not left with awkward tile cuts on the edges. - Then draw a cross in the middle of the floor to get your first row of tiles straight with the walls. TILING CHOOSING THE RIGHT TROWEL

LOWEST PRICES ON QUALITY BUILDING MATERIALS, TOOLS, PAINT & HARDWARE

HOW MANY TILES DO I NEED TO BUY?STEP 1- To fi nd out the number of tiles to buy, measure

how wide and how high or long the area is that you want to tile.

STEP 2- Then multiply the width by either the height

or the length of the area, this will give you thesquare metres of the area you need to cover.

FLOOR: W X L = m 2 OR WALL: W X H = m 2

STEP 3- To be on the safe side add an extra 10% to thisnumber as there may be breakages or tiles thatneed to be cut.

FLOOR: W X L + 10% = m 2 OR WALL: W X H + 10% = m 2
