Can you believe that November is already here? I hope you all had a fantastic time at the Fall Festival and en-joyed all the wonderful activities and food. Thank you to all the teachers, students, and parents that donated items and volunteered their time to make this event a huge success!! Without your support, we would not be able to put on such an exciting, fun-filled evening!! I also want to send out a big THANK YOU to Lyndsay Roome and Ashleigh Handley (our fantastic Fall Fest Chairs) for all the hard work that they did planning Fall Fest! If you are interested on being on the committee for next year please contact us at [email protected]. In addition to the Fall Festival I special shout out needs to go to all the parent volunteers who helped with Tiger Shop. We cannot do it without you, so THANK YOU. Who had fun during Red Ribbon Week? The fantastic assembly by Generous George, the visit to the older grades by the Fire Department and let’s not forget being able to wear sunglasses to school! Book Fair is right around the corner! Starting Monday November 11th students will be visiting the book fair to write up their wish lists. You are more than welcome to help with this event or simply visit the fair with your child. The sched-ule is inside this issue of Tiger Tails. We will also be open early for “Breakfast and Books” on Wednesday the 13th and open the evening of the 3rd Grade performance on Thursday the 14th. We hope to see everyone at these events. Did you sign up for WATCH D.O.G.S? This exciting new program is launching at Timber Creek and is all about having positive male role models volunteer at Timber Creek. Email Mrs Fields at [email protected] for more information.
Now for some exciting news…. The teacher of every class with 100% PTA membership by Friday No-
vember 22nd, 2013 will get to throw a pie in the face of Dr. Heier! So send in your membership form today! Remem-
ber membership isn’t a commitment to work; it’s a commitment to support your child’s school. Your money helps pay
for PTA to bring educational and fun assemblies to Timber Creek, to help provide resources for your child’s classroom
and to bring you wonderful reading resources such as BOOK FLIX.
Don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook. It is full of important information about Timber Creek. https://www.facebook.com/TimberCreekTigers
We hope to see you at one or more of the fantastic events we will be hosting this month and don’t forget to contact us

Have you noticed that the weather is extremely unpredictable lately? The fall season in Texas brings with it some chilly mornings, some rainy mornings, and even some warm mornings and by dismissal time the temperature has often changed drastically. We already have many sweaters, jackets, and hoodies collecting in our Lost and Found bin by the cafeteria. It would be very helpful if you would write your child’s name on these items so we can ensure they get returned. If your child is missing any clothing items, you are welcome to come up to school and check the bin, and while you are here, why don’t you join your child for lunch? We would love to have you!
On Oct. 24, we had our very first grade level program of the school year. 4th grade students were really impressive as they took the audience on a “travel across Texas”. The students and teachers were beaming with pride as they showed off their knowledge and talents! Thank you, parents and PTA for as-sisting in the preparation. Mrs. Acosta and I are still receiving positive com-ments about the presentation and we look forward to the 3rd grade perfor-mance on November 14 at 6:30. We hope you find time to come to the per-formance and then end you evening with some shopping at our Book Fair! What a great way to plan ahead for holiday gift giving and support Timber Creek at the same time.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of the fathers and father figures that came to the Watch D.O.G.S. meeting on the evening of Oct. 22. We had over 200 par-ticipants that came to enjoy an evening of Watch D.O.G.S. information and pizza! Special thanks to PTA for providing the pizza and drinks, and to our counselor, Ms. Fields, for organizing the event. Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that is new to our campus this year that provides our fathers, or father figures with a variety of opportunities to spend time on campus interacting with our students. Please contact Ms. Fields if you would like more information.
Sincerely, Dr. Sharon Heier Proud Principal of Timber Creek Elementary

With all your efforts, our children were able to enjoy an amazing, fun-filled evening.

Get involved with TCE PTA and
Volunteer!!!
Whether your child is 5 or 18, it is never too late to get involved!
Volunteering at school is a great way to show your kids that their school and their edu-
cation is important!
Volunteering teaches by example that it is important to give back to the community.
Not only will Timber Creek reap the benefits of your involvement — you will, too! By in-
teracting with teachers and other parents, you'll gain a firsthand understanding of your
child's daily life. You will get to know the other children that surround your child every
day. You'll also tap into trends of school life that can help you communicate with your
kids as they grow.
And did you know volunteering with the PTA is FUN!?!! We help with exciting things like
the BOOK FAIR, FALL Festival, PARTIES, and Teacher treat days! We get into school areas
most parents don't get to see.
There are many ways YOU can volunteer! Various committees, Fall Fest, Tiger Shop, Li-
brary assistance, Book Fair, and our PTA bulletin board, just to name a few!
To sign up for our General Volunteer list, please go to our VolunteerSpot located online
at http://vols.pt/n9vzZ6 . Or use your phone and scan the code to sign up.
Thank you in advance for helping Timber Creek, our amazing teachers, and our wonder-
ful children out this 2013-14 school year! ~TCE PTA
