Time to replace your car’s cabin filter, Know why??
HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) is the technology of indoor and vehicular
environmental comfort. Its goal is to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air quality.
HVAC system design is a sub discipline of mechanical engineering, based on the principles of
thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
Functions of Cabin Air Filter: Cabin clean the incoming air and remove allergens. The cabin
air filter helps trap pollen, bacteria, dust and exhaust gases that may find their way into a
vehicle’s air conditioning and heating and ventilation systems. The filter also prevents leaves,
bugs and other debris from entering the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) system
Where is the Cabin Air Filter Located? The cabin air filter, or air conditioning filter, is located in different places in different cars.
Usually, they will all be in the air conditioning/vent system after the fan. Refer to your car’s
manual for the exact location
Is the AC Filter the Same as the Cabin Air Filter? Yes. Some manufacturers call these filters AC filters (or air conditioning filters), while others
call them cabin air filters. Either way, they are the same thing and they perform the same
function of removing dust and other allergens from the air entering the passenger compartment.
Affects of Clogged cabin filter: A dirty or clogged cabin air filter can cause musty odours in the vehicle and cause contaminants
to become so concentrated in the cabin that passengers actually breathe in more fumes and
particles when riding in the car compared to walking down the street. A restricted cabin air filter
can also impair airflow in the HVAC system, possibly causing interior heating and cooling
problems. Over time, the heater and air conditioner may also become damaged by corrosion.
