Oﬅen aﬅer installing or replacing baeries in a 521A transmier, the unit will not power up. The reason this occurs is be- cause one or more of the D Cell batteries is not making contact at the battery compartment positive terminal. Due to the tight fit of the batteries in their individual slots, it can appear that the battery’s positive side is making contact when there is actually a small gap between the battery’s positive side and the battery compartment positive terminal. This problem is easily fixed by pushing each of the batteries on its negative side towards the battery compartment positive terminals contact (see the picture below).
