Timestrip is an agile technology business that designs and manufactures time and temperature indicators.

We do this against a backdrop of proven success in key sectors with application specific solutions in life sciences, cold chain (food and healthcare) and filtration. For example, our Timestrip® Blood Temp temperature breach indicator labels created for blood bags – now saving time, money and precious blood stocks in blood banks and hospitals throughout the world.

We have created a core product range which we hold in stock ready for quick shipment. We have the capability to print batch numbers or serial numbers onto individual Timestrips, to make time and tempera-ture monitoring an integral part of Standard Operating Procedures.

Innovation remains a core strand of our approach to solution development and the practical application of our patented, low-cost smart label indicators.

WHO USES THEM?

HOW IT WORKS

Time monitoring indicators are accurate, irreverable, highly reliable and customer-friendly. The self-adhesive indicators work by measuring elapsed time since activation.

Our time monitoring indicators are simply activated by squeezing the bubble on top of the Timestrip indicator with your finger.

Each indicator contains a porous membrane, through which a colored liquid travels at a pre-calibrated rate.

A red line appears almost immediately to confirm that the indicator is active and the window will completely fill with colour as time goes on.

WHAT ARE THEY?

Unlike other cold chain technologies, Timestrip® temperature monitoring labels remain completely inert prior to use and can be shipped and stored at ambient temperature – ready for activation at the appropriate time, removing the impracticalities and costs associated with storing temperature loggers in their own temperature controlled environment.

Timestrip® indicators are widely seen as the most cost-effective solution in the market and represent a break-through in cold chain management.

We offer both ascending temperature indicators.

HOW IT WORKS

Temperature monitoring indicators are accurate, irreverable,high-ly reliable and customer-friendly. Timestrip® PLUS self-adhesive indicators work by measuring elapsed time since an ascending temperature breach has occured after activation.

Timestrip Product FAQs

WHAT IS A TIMESTRIP®?

Timestrip® is a unique, patented timer that monitors how long a product has been open or how long it has been in use. Timestrip® is a single-use, disposable product that can be produced to monitor time periods ranging from 5 minutes to over a year.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Timestrips® should be activated when the product is first opened or used. Activate by squeezing the button flat. An activation line appears to show that the Timestrip® is working. Stick the Timestrip® on or near to the device it is monitoring.

The liquid gradually moves across the white viewing window. Read how long the Timestrip® has been active by simply looking at the scale that is printed by the window.

Dispose of the Timestrip® every time you change the device it is monitoring. Activate a new Timestrip® and attach it to the replacement device.

SPECIFICATIONS

Dimensions: standard size is 19mm x 40mm.

Time period: capability of monitoring time periods of between 5 minutes and 12 months.

Temperature:Timestrips® are calibrated to monitor time at a specified average temperature selected from a range between -17˚C (1˚F) to +40˚C (104˚F).

Accuracy: When used within the calibrated temperature range, accuracy is +/-10 to 15% depending on the model.

Adhesive: can be supplied with a wide range of perm-peel or permanent adhesives on the underside of the Timestrip®, or with no adhesive at all.

Packaging: can be supplied loose, in boxes, poly bags or custom packs.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I ACTIVATED THE TIMESTRIP®?

After squeezing the button flat a line will emerge in the window to show that the Timestrip® is activated. If the activation window is already red then do not use.

DOES ORIENTATION MATTER?

Orientation has no impact on the way it works.

IS THE LIQUID SAFE?

Yes. We only use food-grade oils and non-toxic colourants in our formulation.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE LIQUID IS INGESTED?

In the unlikely event that the liquid leaks from the Timestrip®.and comes into contact with skin, simply wash with soap and water. If the liquid comes into contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

ARE THEY WATERPROOF?

No. Timestrips® should not be submerged in water, but are splash-proof.

CAN YOU USE DIFFERENT COLOURED LIQUIDS?

We are limited to using a red colourant in most cases although certain products use blue.

WILL THE TIMESTRIP® TELL ME WHEN THE PRODUCT

IS NO LONGER FRESH?

Timestrip® only records the passage of time after it is activated and therefore cannot guarantee the quality or fitness for purpose of the product with which it is used.

IS ACCURACY AFFECTED BY TEMPERATURE

OR ALTITUDE?

Timestrips® are accurate to within +/-10 to 15% depending on the model, provided they are used in line with the stated temperature. If the product is stored at a higher than intended temperature the Timestrip® will advance at a faster rate, and vice versa at lower temperatures. Altitude does not affect accuracy.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE?

Timestrips® can be stored for a minimum of 3 years and require no special storage conditions.

CAN THEY BE CUSTOMISED?

It is possible to customise the print, shape, dimensions and type of adhesive, subject to volumes, tooling costs and set-up charges.


Timestrip Custom FAQs

CAN I HAVE A FULLY CUSTOMISED TIMESTRIP?

Yes! If your requirements exceed 100,000 units per order we can work with to create a fully customised product, however do please look at our time indicator range of stock products, to take advantage of lower unit costs and lead times. This range currently consists of three models: 3 month, 6 month and 12 month, which cover many common product replacement or service cycles.

We can create simple backing cards or work with your product design teams to explore how these stock products can be engineered into replacement parts to become an integral part of the equipment.

WHAT ABOUT GRAPHIC DESIGN ELEMENTS?

We have our own design facility so creating the surface graphics, working on design layouts and finalising artwork is all part of the service. We’ll need your logo artwork in a vector file format like .ai or .eps, (not a .jpg or bitmap) and any brand guidelines or draft layouts you can provide. If you need to match production inks to brand colors we can send you a swatch book to specify the closest color match (we’ll ask for it back when you are finished).

You’ll be pleased to know we never go to full print and pro-duction without clients approving digital proofs first.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR GETTING A CUSTOM TIMESTRIP®?

If the Timestrip® is not being integrated into the product it-self, in other words, just being used as a ‘label’, then it is very straightforward. We need to know:

• Duration of the Timestrip® (from 5 minutes to 1 year) and the temperature environment it will be calibrated for, such as room temperature or refrigerator.

• Graphic concepts, layout and branding guides, etc.

• Adhesive requirements (what will it be stuck to?)

If the Timestrip® is being integrated into the product itself, the first step is for us to look at the actual product or CAD design. We are happy to supply a Non-Disclosure Agree-ment to maintain confidentiality.

WHAT SHAPES ARE AVAILABLE?

This depends on the duration of the Timestrip®, but our largest and most popular format is 19 x 40mm. We also have 16 x 33mm, 16 x 30mm, 12mm x 33mm, 12mm x 30mm, and even a round 23mm version. At 500,000+ units, we can tool-up to create completely new shapes for you, subject to technical limitations.

WHAT IS THE LEAD TIME FOR A CUSTOM TIMESTRIP®?

10-12 weeks from receipt of order, down payment, and sign-off of graphics.

PRINTING CONSTRAINTS

Timestrips® are printed by using a masking effect over the timer. We’ll explain this in more detail, but it means that we have to use special colours. This means that we work better with darker colours and cannot achieve pure whites and yellows, for example.

A good guideline is to use colours with 10% black equivalent to them.

If your project is for 500,000 units or more, we are able to use a different type of print process, which enables more options on the lighter colours.

CAN WE RECEIVE CUSTOM MADE SAMPLES?

Due to the manufacturing processes involved it is not possible to supply custom made, fully functioning samples in small quantities. We provide digital proofs, showing ‘before’ and ‘after’ read-outs so you can see what an active Timestrip will look like and we can also send you a variety of existing products with existing artwork, if you need to show functionality and check dimensions.

If actual samples of your finished product is absolutely necessary, we would have to do a proper production run, which would have a long lead time and would have a significant cost to it.

CAN YOU SUPPLY PRIVATE LABEL FOR US?

Yes, but please be aware that in addition to printing your logo and messaging, a small Timestrip® logo will also be placed on the product. We proudly co-brand with some of the best and most recognised brands in the world.
