This was the first time my parents let me leave the house without supervision! I threw on my peepers, brushed back my long black hair, and was ready to split my lonely house! Evan just got himself a neat new black Ford from his parents, so we all went through there. We got to the big screen and watched “On the Waterfront.” Didn’t really care for the movie, It was just nice to do something exciting over a very dull weekend! Entry 2 What an eye-opening day today was! My school friends and I all went to a Chuck Berry concert! We all got into Evan’s brand new Ford and burned rubber. I didn’t know what I was getting into. I had never been to a concert before. All of my friends were excited, so I was optimistic. After a long ride, we got to the performance. It was something I had never experienced before. There was this kookie man on stage playing an electric guitar extremely loudly, and there were so many young people my age just dancing, and acting so free! It was a shock! I was so used to everything being so quiet and calm, and this was a huge surprise to me. At first I was reluctant to dance, because I didn’t know what to do! But then I decided to give it a try and it was lots of fun! It was then that I realized that I don’t want to be part of this conservative, conformist mold. I want to live a free life! I was really bored today. My buddies and I decided we were going to go to a drive-in movie.

What an eye-opening day today was!

Entry 3

My family just got a television set today. I’ve never seen anything like it! I t was big square, and you can turn it on and off. This was already interesting to me. But the best part is that you can watch a bunch of different programs! My favorite show is “The Ed Sullivan Show”! But there are many great options to choose from! I can’t believe somebody was able to come up with such a cool invention. That guy is made in the shade!

I tried to design my project in a way that would relate to a teenager in the 1950s. Televisions were new in the 1950s, so I made an entry were the teen was excited to use his TV. One type of entertainment was drive-in movies, so I made an entry about the teen’s experience with that. Rock and Roll was also a new trend, so I wrote about how the teen experienced that for the first time, and how that experience completely created a huge change on his view on society, and what it means to be a teenager.
