Two Easy Homemade Glue Recipes

You're in a sticky situation. You need glue, but you don't want to run to the store to get it. That means you need a fast and easy solution. In this post, you'll discover two easy homemade glue recipes that take little time or money to make. In addition, they are all natural and fun to do with your kids.

Making glue isn't rocket science. It's must easier than you may think, and you can probably make it with items that are in your pantry right now. Since the glue you buy in the grocery is already inexpensive, the chances are you're not going to save much money by making your own. Still, it's a fun project as well as educational. And when you’re in a pinch, it's a fast way to make something sure and sticky.

Delicious Corn Syrup Glue Recipe

There's something really sweet about this recipe. It's made with four ingredients, one of which is corn syrup. I've made this one and it works very well for kid's art projects and crafts. Open up your cupboard, and find the following ingredients:

•2 Tablespoons Corn Syrup

•2 Tablespoons Cornstarch

•1 Tablespoon White Vinegar

•1 1/2 Cups Water

Mix 3/4 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of corn syrup, and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar in a sauce pan. Bring it to a rolling boil. In a separate bowl, you'll mix the remaining water (3/4 cup) with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Slowly add this to the hot mixture. Stir constantly until the mixture begins to boil again. Then, remove from heat.

After it cools, pour the mixture into a plastic container. If you'd like, add food coloring for creative variety. Let your kids choose! Before using your glue, let it stand overnight.

Fun & Fast Flour Paste Recipe

The easiest way to make homemade glue is with a flour paste recipe. It's just flour and water. That's it! Simply blend flour with water until it looks like pancake batter. Stir the pre-glue paste until it's smooth and without clumps.

Finally, pour your mixture into a saucepan and stir it over medium heat until it reaches a slow boil. At this point, take it off the burner. After it cools, you can add wintergreen extract, peppermint extract, or another scent for smell. Make sure to store this glue in the refrigerator when you're not using it.

Homemade Dog Toothpaste

Your dog may be cute, but his breath stinks! Homemade dog toothpaste is an excellent way to keep your pet's breath smelling minty fresh. And that's the doggone truth! In addition, good oral hygiene ensures your dog's teeth stay healthy and strong.

Just like humans, dogs can develop periodontal disease. Veterinarians estimate that more than 80% of older dogs have gum disease. Without regular brushing, your pet can lose teeth or develop painful abscesses. Don't spend money by taking Spot to the vet. Save money by doing it yourself with this homemade toothpaste for dogs.

Doggone-Good Homemade Dog Toothpaste

The first thing you'll need is a toothbrush. You have a few choices. At your local pet store, there are special toothbrushes made just for dogs. If you'd like, you can use a baby's toothbrush, which is gentler on the teeth. I prefer to use a piece of clean gauze. That seems to do the trick, and it's less invasive.

Dog Toothpaste Ingredients

•6 tsp Baking Soda

•1/3 tsp Salt

•4 tsp Glycerine

•Pinch of Peppermint

•Water

*Optional : Chicken or Beef Broth for Taste

Start by mixing all of the ingredients in a bowl. Don't add the water or broth just yet. The baking soda neutralizes the smell and acts as an abrasive to remove the plaque. Since salt is a natural disinfectant, it is a critical ingredient in this homemade dog toothpaste. It kills the harmful bacteria in your dog's mouth.

Slowly add water to the solution. If you’d like, a few drops of beef or chicken broth makes the solution more palatable for your pet. As you add the wet ingredients, you'll want to get the same consistency as toothpaste.

Brush, Brush, Brush!

This is the tough part - brushing your dog's teeth. Depending on the nature of your dog, this may be a bit tricky. Allow your pet to taste the solution. Once you've got your dog's attention, start brushing the teeth. Pay close attention to the bottom portion of the teeth (where the teeth meet the gum line).

Give your dog a treat afterwards, and he'll be more likely to sit for his dental cleaning next time. Keep in mind, you never want to use toothpaste with fluoride or mouthwashes. They are harmful for dogs and unhealthy for his teeth and gums. However, this homemade dog toothpaste is perfect for your precious pooch. And it is sure to reduce his stinky breath as well.
