Course Description: Join us for a 12 day journey of adventure and meaningful service learning to Vietnam. Delaware Tech will team up with Brittany's Hope Foundation to travel to this exotic land of ancient beauty and deep history. We will visit Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Hoi An. Experience a cyclo ride through ancient Hoi An streets; visit the American War museum and the Cu Chi Tunnels. All this while we host parties and field trips, build cribs, paint, plant gardens and provide care to children in orphanages. See Vietnam while making a difference in the life of an abandoned child.
In this course, students will explore learning projects include volunteering at local orphanages, vocational rehabilitation centers, and impoverished communities. Subpopulations include children with disabilities and exposure to Vietnamese perspectives of what is considered disabled. Visiting historical landmarks and museums such as Marble Mountain, where students will learn about the Buddhist faith, American War Museum, Cu Chi tunnels and the tourist destination of Hoi An. Throughout the trip, students will be immersed in Vietnamese culture through food and interactions with Vietnamese citizens. Students be become exposed to numerous markets where students can shop for goods such as food, coffee, and articles of clothing specific to Vietnamese culture.
