ACCUMARK AND THE ACCUMARK SECURITY KEY INSTALLED ON YOUR HOME/REMOTE SYSTEM: • You should work with your data in local C-drive storage areas. • If you try to work in the windows network storage areas directly, you risk data corruption and storage area lock ups because the data will not sync across the network properly unless using SQL. • As a precaution, make sure to Check Storage Area after importing and exporting zips and refresh storage areas with View Refresh All so the drives are scanned and up to date. ACCUMARK AND THE ACCUMARK SECURITY KEY ARE ON THE SYSTEM IN THE OFFICE AND YOU WANT TO ACCESS THE SYSTEM FROM HOME/REMOTE LOCATION: • If you are using Remote Desktop (RDP), you will need to be sure that you have permissions to remote into the systems with VPN software that is set up by your IT administrator. • Use Remote Desktop (RDP) or another remote application like Team Viewer to work directly on the remote system in the office. This may be slow but is the next best scenario if you have no other choice. – If you use Team Viewer, you don’t need RDP or VPN but you must purchase a software license from Team Viewer and install it on each remote system that will connect to the AccuMark system in the office. The office system will need Team Viewer installed on it as well. Please contact CAD Support if you need assistance with this configuration. • Users that have access to a network license have two choices: – Access a “seat” located inside the office, using Remote Desktop. No AccuMark software is needed on the home system; you work directly on the remote system in the office from your home system. TIPS ON WORKING REMOTELY There are a variety of options for using AccuMark ® remotely. – Access a “seat” inside the office using VPN only. In this case, AccuMark is installed on the home system and a file is set up that points to the IP address of the file server where the AccuMark network license is installed. This enables you to launch the applications from the local AccuMark software. This works very well when you are in close proximity to the office. Longer distances to the server location may be slow. – It is still best to use storage area data on the local C-Drive which can be zipped up using AccuMark Explorer and then emailed or copied from one desktop to the other desktop when connected. – In both cases, you must first have a virtual private network (VPN) connection set up by your IT dept in order to have permission to access systems in the office. • Schools and universities may have additional security measures that may not allow VPN. Professors or school officials only: Please contact Elizabeth King at [email protected] for alternative options we are offering. OTHER TIPS • Downloads could be slower because everyone is online, so try downloading during off-peak hours. Let it run at night, but be sure your computer doesn’t shut off or go to sleep. Check your systems’ power settings and create a power plan for both remote systems and your home system so they cannot shut down or go into “sleep mode”, especially for RDP. • Paths for data will need to be changed to point to local storage areas. This includes PDS Preferences which will need to be updated to reflect the local path for saving patterns. Most users will be exporting their PDS Settings and if they import on their remote system, they may be pointing to windows server drives and will need to update the default storage area path for their home environment.

TIPS ON WORKING REMOTELY

There are a variety of options for using AccuMark® remotely. – Access a “seat” inside the office using VPN only. In this case, AccuMark is installed on the home system and a file is set up that points to the IP address of the file server where the AccuMark network license is installed.

• Open up a command prompt and “ping” the server name listed in the Location column.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR HOME SYSTEM TO RUN ACCUMARK SOFTWARE USING A NETWORK LICENSE.If you have a network license, you can set up a file on your home system that points to the IP address of the server where the AccuMark network license and key are installed. Once the AccuMark software is installed on your home system, you will be able to launch the applications using the license on the server. This configuration will allow you to run all of your AccuMark software applications that you are licensed to use from the desktop icons installed on your home system.

• Be sure you have VPN installed on your home system prior to setting up the ini file. A virtual private network grants you the permissions necessary to access the systems and applications inside your company’s network. Once IT sets up VPN on your home system, you will be able to remote into the systems you are granted permission via their IP address.

• The IP address of the server is found by first locating the server name in the Gemalto-Sentinel Admin Control Center by going to http://localhost:1947

• Once you are VPN’d into the network, you can check your license features and sessions for the key from a browser at: http://localhost:1947
