Padmashri Dr. B. SIVANTHI ADITYAN
INTRODUCTION
Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Physical Education was established
during the academic year 1993 – 94. It is administered by the Aditanar
Educational Institution which is a registered society. Padmashri Dr. B. Sivanthi
Adityan was the Chairman of the Aditanar Educational institution and the
Founder – President of the College.
OUR FOUNDER
Padmashri Dr. B. Sivanthi Adityan was a multifaceted personality. He was
a Sportsman and Sports administrator par excellence. He was the President of
the Olympic Association for 10 years. He was awarded the Olympic Order of
Merit in 1995 and Olympic Council of Asia Award of Merit in 2010. For his
outstanding service to the cause of Education, the Government of India
honoured him with Padmashri during the year 2008.

OUR CHAIRMAN
Our Chairman Thiru. S. Balasubramanian Adityan is the illustrious son
of Padmashri Dr. B. Sivanthi Adityan and the grandson of architect of press Sri.
Si. Pa. Adityan. He is the Director of the No.l Tamil Daily “The Daily Thanthi”
and the Director of “Thanthi TV”
CAMPUS LOCATION
Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Physical Education is situated on the
Tiruchendur Tirunelveli Road, 3 km from Tiruchendur bus stand and railway
station. The college campus covers an area of 12 acres and is fully residential.
College possesses Administrative building, Class rooms, Library, Sports
Science Laboratories and Research Block and Hostel. College provides
spacious and well laid play fields for all major games/sports. It has an
International standard Indoor Stadium.
HOSTEL
Staying in the hostel is compulsory for the students of B.P.Ed & M.P.Ed
courses. Women students are given separate accommodation in the P.G
Women’s hostel of the Govindammal Aditanar College for women. The B.P.E.S
Course shall be Residential or Non – Residential.

I. B.P.E.S., COURSE

- Not completed 21 years as on 1st July.
- For SC / ST 3 years relaxation is given.
b) Qualification: A pass in +2 in the 10+2 pattern.
c) Represented the School in any Sport / Game.
Mode of Application:

4. Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate

relaxation of 6 years of age as on 1st July.
e) Pattern of study 10 + 2 + 3.
f) Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 50% marks. Participation in the
Intercollegiate / Inter Zonal / District / School Competition in Sports &
Games recognized by AIU / IOA / SGFI / Govt. of India. (or)
g) Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with 45% marks. (or)

h) Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied
Physical Education as compulsory / elective subject. (or)
i) Bachelor’s Degree with 45% marks and participated in National / Inter
University / State or Secured 1st/2nd/ 3rd Position in Intercollegiate /
Inter Zonal / District / School Competitions in Sports recognized by AIU
/ IOA / SGFI / Govt. of India. (or)
j) Bachelor’s Degree with participation in International Competitions or
secured 1st/2nd/3rd position in National / Inter University competitions
in Sports & Games recognized by respective federations AIU / IOA /
SGFI / Govt. of India. (or)
k) Graduation with 45% marks and atleast three years of teaching
experience (for deputed in-service candidates i.e., trained physical
education teachers / coaches) (or)

- Ex-servicemen / Experienced Physical Education Teacher shall be given
relaxation of 6 years of age as on 1st July.
b) Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) or equivalent with atleast 50%
marks.
c) A minimum Inter Collegiate Level participation in sports / games is
compulsory.
d) The candidates should be medically fit and free from any deformity.
SELECTION TESTS
Admission shall be made on the basis of ranking for a total of 150 marks as detailed below:-
1. Qualifying Examination : 25
2. Sports and games participation
: 25
3. Games and sports skill test : 50 4. Written test : 35 5. Personal interview : 15 Total : 150
IV. M.Phil., Course in Physical Education
- Duration of the course – 1 year - Course is Non Residential / Residential - Co- Education
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
M.P.Ed.,/M.P.E.,/M.P.E.S. degree holder in Physical Education. Selection is based on written examination for 50 marks.

1. Application for Admission should be accompanied by the attested Xerox
copies of the following.
i) 10th Mark Statement
ii) 12th mark statement.
iii) UG Degree or Provisional Certificate.
iv) Degree mark statement (if appeared, mark statements upto 5th
semester)
v) P.G Degree mark statement for M.Phil Admission
vi) Sports representation certificates
(School/College/District/University/State level)
vii) Transfer certificate and conduct certificate.
viii) Community certificate
ix) Aadhar Card Xerox
x) Self addressed and stamped envelope for Rs. 10/-.
xi) Medical Fitness Certificate from a Government Doctor/ Civil Surgeon
in the prescribed format attached with application form.
2. Candidates finally selected will be intimated by post. Selected candidates
will be admitted on payment of the full prescribed fees. Those who fail
to pay the prescribed fees in time, will not be eligible for admission. Fees
once paid will not be refunded.
3. While paying the fees, the students should produce the following
documents,
i) All original certificates of 10th, 12th, UG Degree, Community,
Sports/Games representation with three Xerox copies each of all
certificates duly attested.
ii) Passport size photo – Five copies (with name on the reverse side).
iii) Stamp size photo – Five copies (with name on the reverse side).
(Men : All photos shall be in the white shirt & tie)

4. Note:
i) All admissions made are only provisional till the certificates / grades
etc., submitted by the candidates are scrutinized and accepted. If any
candidate is found to have got admission on false claims, the
admission is liable to be cancelled without notice.
ii) Candidates expelled from any other college or dismissed from
government service on disciplinary grounds and those who are
known to have been involved in acts of crime and gross indiscipline
or misbehavior will not be eligible for admission.
iii) Pregnant women are not permitted either to be admitted (or) to
undergo the courses of B.P.E.S, B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed., & M.Phil.
iv) Physically Challenged candidates are not eligible for admission for
any course in Physical Education.

Note:

PADMASHRI Dr. SIVANTHI ADITANAR SCHOLARSHIP:
1. Form III holders (University representation in sport / game are given
Rs. 3000/- less in the Tuition fee for B.P.Ed candidates in their I & II
Years.
2. Students of sister institution will be given Rs. 3000/- less in the Tuition
fee for B.P.Ed candidates in the I year.
3. B.P.Ed old students of Dr. SACPE are given less Rs. 6250/- for M.P.Ed
admission in the I Year.
4. M.P.Ed old students of Dr. SACPE are given less Rs. 5000/- for M.Phil
admission.
REGULATIONS OF THE COLLEGE AND HOSTEL
Every student is bound to follow the regulations of the college & hostel
and maintain strict discipline. Right from the very inception, the college has
been maintaining a high standard of discipline. Students should learn to
appreciate the regulations and observe them. Mainly because of high standard
of discipline maintained here, our college is regarded as the best institution by
all the quarters of the society. It is, therefore the bounden duty and
responsibility of all the students and staff to uphold the name and reputation
of the college. Any act which defames the institution is considered to be
misconduct. The parents and guardians are requested to advise their wards in
maintaining the reputation of the institution.
The Principal shall have power to fine, suspend or even expel a student
from the college in the interest of the institution under disciplinary action. The
final decision of the Principal will never be revoked under any circumstances.

No influence or recommendations will have any effect on the college or hostel
authorities in this regard.
Use or possession of mobile phones by the students is banned in the
campus as the use of possession within the campus creates several
disciplinary problems of varied nature. Hence the students are not allowed to
keep mobile phones in their possession.
I. STUDENTS CONDUCT
1. Every student shall conduct himself or herself in every respect to cause no
disturbance to the work or classes or to fellow students.
2. Ragging, eve teasing, consuming alcohol and smoking are strictly
prohibited in the college, hostel and even outside the campus.
3. No student shall take part in any activity of public movement, communal
and religious activities which the college authorities consider undesirable.
4. No organized meeting, tea party, lunch, dinner or any get together shall be
arranged in the college premises or outside without the permission of the
Principal.
5. Students during their stay at the college should not exchange greeting
cards, photographs, gifts, articles or letters with the students of opposite
sex. Gossiping of any kind should be avoided in corridors, sports field,
during tour, travel and rehearsal for fine arts, etc., any violation will be
seriously dealt with.
6. During the class hours students are forbidden from going to the canteen or
loitering along corridor or road. Any violation will be seriously viewed.
7. Any unacceptable behaviour seen or vulgar expression heard, while in the
company of fellow students or others will be viewed seriously.
II. CLEANLINESS OF THE CAMPUS
1. The students should cooperate with the college administration in
maintaining the college and hostel premises clean and tidy.
2. Hostellers should see that their rooms are kept neat by regular brooming
and keeping their dress neatly in proper place.

3. Writing on walls, pillars, toilets, bathrooms, furniture and class room board
is strictly prohibited.
4. Students should avoid the habit of leaning on the wall or pillars with a foot
up anywhere in the corridor of the college building, hostel and also in other
places. This sort of practice makes the wall dirty, so the students are
advised to refrain from this practice and leave the walls and pillars neat
with luster.
5. Dispose the empty packets and waste papers into the dustbins.
III. CARE OF COLLEGE PROPERTY
1. Every student shall handle the college property with diligent care and use
it with ownership intent, so that he or she can leave the infrastructure for
so many future generations to utilize it.
2. The cost of damage, if caused to the college property, will be charged two
times the accounts of the students responsible for the damage, in addition
to disciplinary action.
3. Students are requested to switch off the fans and lights when they leave the
classrooms and hostel dormitories.
4. Furniture in the classroom should not be moved and displaced
unnecessarily.
5. LCD Projectors kept in the classrooms should not be meddled with.
IV. DRESS CODE
1. As dress makes a complete man, students should be decently dressed up
while attending classes.
2. Girls can only wear saree or chudidhar to the class.
3. Boys must come to the class room or to any of the college functions with
shirts inserted and leather shoes.
4. Students found violating the dress code will be brought to the notice of the
Principal for further appropriate action.
5. Identity cards should be weared around the neck when they are in the
college campus.

V. ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE
90% of attendance is necessary to appear for University Examination.
Before proceeding for any curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular
activities, students should submit the ON DUTY letter in the prescribed form
duly signed by the staff in charge to the college office in advance.
All students should attend the classes regularly. Attendance is marked
every period and students should be punctual in attending the classes. Late
comers and absentees without leave letters are liable to be fined. Leave
applications should be submitted in the prescribed form in advance. All the
applications for the hostel leave shall be made in writing endorsed by the
Residential Superintendent or Deputy Warden of the hostel. The applications
for the college should be countersigned by the class advisor and submitted to
the Principal. If a student is absent consecutively for ten or more days without
prior permission, he or she shall be deemed to have left the college and will be
dealt with accordingly. Any medical leave should be endorsed by RMO or
Medical Certificate through authorized medical practitioner must be
submitted. Absence from examination without leave will be regarded as a
serious breach of discipline and will render the students liable to heavy fines
and other penalties, which may included refusal of permission to appear for
the university examinations.
Attending the classes on the reopening day and closing day of every
semester is compulsory. If anybody violates, he or she will heavily be fined.
Bridging any holiday with the adjoining working day is strictly prohibited. If
any student is absent without submitting leave letters in the prescribed form
will be fined Rs. 100/- per day.
HOSTEL RULES FOR MEN
1. The B.P.Ed & M.P.Ed courses are residential.
2. B.P.E.S Course is Residential / Non Residential
3. The hostel is under the direct control of the Principal who is also the Warden. He is assisted by a Deputy Warden and Residential Superintendent.
4. Admission to the hostel shall be made in the prescribed form.

5. Students before being admitted into the hostel must give a written undertaking that he would abide by the rules of the hostel and that he would submit all the matters pertaining to the hostel and mess to the Deputy Warden and Residential Superintendent.
6. The hostel is not just a place where students board and stay. It is intended to be a home away from home with friendly and academic atmosphere as a community, devoted to learning.
7. Mess committee consists of student representatives, mess clerk, Deputy Warden and Residential Superintendent.
8. Students going during weekends with prior permission from the Principal, Deputy Warden or Residential Superintendent for genuine reasons should reach the hostel by 9.00 pm on Sunday or any day as the case may be, report to the Deputy Warden or Residential Superintendent.
9. There will be a weekend during 2nd Saturday and Sunday of every month to visit their parents. Students going home should submit a letter.
10. On other Sundays, students willing to go out to town can do so between 6.30am to 8.30pm with a valid gate pass from either the Deputy Warden or Residential Superintendent.
11. Students are advised to avoid keeping valuable and excess cash with them. They are advised to keep their boxes or suitcases locked always and deposit excess money, if any, in the post office or bank. The authorities can take no responsibility for money or articles lost in the hostel. However, the loss must be reported immediately to the Deputy Warden or Residential Superintendent.
12. Students should take care of furniture supplied to them and also the water taps and electrical installations. Any damage or loss of hostel property will be liable for recovery of its cost with penalty.
13. The dormitories should always be kept clean. The clothes, books and other belongings should be properly arranged and maintained.
14. Mobile phone, Radio, Iron box, Table fan or extra lamp should not be used in the hostel.
15. Playing cards, smoking and consuming liquor are serious breach of discipline and are liable for dismissal.
16. Entry into the kitchen is strictly prohibited.

17. Students should not enter into the dining hall before the bell and food will not be served after the mess is closed. Timing must be strictly observed.
18. An orderly way of sitting is required and students shall not make noise in the dining hall.
19. Food shall not be taken to rooms for any reason without prior permission from the Deputy Warden.
20. Deputy Warden or Residential Superintendent will be present in the dining hall during meals to supervise discipline and orderliness.
21. Students who take their guests to dine must obtain prior permission either from the Deputy Warden or Residential Superintendent and must pay guest charges.
22. Washing hands in the plates is forbidden in the dining hall.
23. Strict silence should be observed during study hours (8.30pm to 10.00pm) and surprise checks will be made.
24. Students who remain in the hostel during practical and theory classes due to sickness should inform the Deputy Warden or Residential Superintendent.
25. Students should not form any groups based on Religion, Community and Region wise.
26. Breach of rules, procedures and responsibilities of the hostel shall render the hostel residents subject of expulsion by the Principal upon the recommendation of the Deputy Warden.
HOSTEL RULES FOR WOMEN
Women students are accommodated in the nearby post graduate hostel
in the Govindammal Aditanar College for Women and they have to abide by
the residential rules of that college hostel.
