Page 1: Titanfall Box Art Anotation

The cover displays the genre of the game. The destroyed and war torn landscape as well as the large weaponry and combat gear, mark the game out as a combat game, something war based. The small figure is dressed in a combat uniform with a gun on his back, and the robot holds a massive weapon.

It also shows the unique mechanics of the game: that of the pilot and the Titan Robot. In the cover the two elements are seen clearly, and the pilot standing by an open hatch shows that he can go inside. A blue glue emanating from inside the robot draws attention to the open hatch, as this is the only example of blue on the cover. And with the figure crouched next to it, crouching down to the hatches height, itʼs clear that he can go inside.

The crouched form of the figure also hints at the agility of the pilots, and all the free-running moves they can do in the game.

Whilst this qualifier medal is designed to stand out, being bolder and more cartoonish, it is also tied to the game. Itʼs designed to

resemble a military medal, which reinforces the genre of Combat FPS.

The specific font design reflects the mood and tone of the game. The text is sharp, angular, and metallic, which ties into the Titans being these sharp robot creatures. However there is an elegance to the logo, with some letters curving into the next, like the F into the A. This creates a flow that evokes the free-running, and precision in the game. The blue glow around the letters links with the colour coming from the Titan, and so evokes the technology of the robots.

The rating is placed in the bottom right to fit convention. This is the spot usually taken by the rating, and although there is no rule

against moving it, this location has been established in customer minds as the correct position, and so they might not trust the rating in a different spot, and question itʼs legitimacy.

The banner across the top is there to show what platform the game can be played on. Itʼs place along the top so it would be visible when the game is stacked in a store, on the tiered shelving system where the box in front covers up all but the upper section of the box behind.
