TRANSCRIPT

The trailer opens with this title being typed onto the screen. This title is simple and visible for the audience to see, but gives little information of the actual story. This makes it more eerie to the audience as they don’t know what they are watching, immediately putting them out of their comfort zone.

The next text continues scribing the phone call, again simple words and no images are used. This also makes the audience feel uneasy as they don’t know what has just happened or how these men have died.

As the trailer continues it comes to some more title shots. They have been put on after the trailer has shown all they can about the story. This means the audience are already indulged into the trailer. In the background it fades from black to white presenting satanic symbols. This suggests that little bit more of sadistic presences in the film, and it also allows the audience to focus on the text.

This title shot shows how the trailer is mixing together to completely unrelated things. This to the audience seems unusual and different, possibly drawing them closer and focusing on the subjects in the other shots. Throughout the background is very similar, inverted crucifixes‘ that seem to have been carved, this suggests a rough presence in the film.

This text touches upon the feelings of the audience as the simplicity of the text is very direct. But it also suggests that there is some hope within the story and there is a purpose to it. The crucifixes’ on the title have been burnt, this also suggests a closer look at religion and hell, as if they have been burnt there rather than scratched in.

Again this I direct to the audience and links closely to the fact that demons are waking among Gods city on Earth (The Vatican), as it says that no one can escape the Devil not even the audience. Striking fear into them.

Finally the title of the film is shown with a twist to it. The ‘D’ is inverted suggesting it has been tampered with by demons, but it also suggests by the fact that it is facing inwards that it relates to demon possession. Like all previous text fonts it is old fashioned but simple, this suggests that the evil presence is powerful and sophisticated.

It has already said about the month it is released but it has not suggested anything else. This allows the audience to keep an eye out for it. It also has the website and companies who made it at the bottom. This is done for distributing reasons to promote the film and organisations.

This title shot presents the previous successes from the current producer, this immediately grabs the audiences attention as they can think back to these horror films and relate them with this trailer. The background which is not quite focused but has a dull and cold atmosphere about it. This gives the audience the idea that they don’t know what to expect, but it is easily to relate to a ghostly figure. This is due to the mist around the text and the ‘green’ hint to the background. The dull green can represent a ghostly presence as it is an odd colour that does not create any other effect for the viewer than spooky.

This text is more distinct now that we know a little bit of the story, although the background which includes the same theme has more darkness to it, suggesting that the ‘past’ is still to be concluded within the trailer or the film. ‘A secret from the past’ relates to how distant the family are in the trailer, but it also suggests to the audience that whatever the presence is in this film, it is attached to the family.

This title shot suggests more to do with the family. It also suggests old and medieval with the word ‘curse’ telling the audience the supernatural presence is old and knows what it is doing. The background is very similar to the last, but a slightly different image. This makes the words look like they are forcing there way out and making space where they can. This does make it more visible for the audience and also looks messy but more distinct.

This title shot only gives an indication of the month it comes out in, with the background very similar to all the others but still making the text to focus of the shot.

The background becomes very distinct in this shot, this is so the darkness can contrast with the white mist to show the text in a better light. The background is very muddy and marshy looking. This colourless effect only creates an eerie atmosphere, and makes the area seem more open than it is. The title has jagged edges which suggests the person with this name is affected by the events in the trailer. The white background that shows up the dark trees emphasises the dead surroundings by highlighting that fact that life is little around the area.

This shot promotes the film, adding the producing and distributing organisations and their symbols. This also adds the website and another way of contacting in this, using snapchat. Using this they can promote by the use of pictures, only allowing viewers to focus on specifics. The use of coming soon allows the audience to think about it and remember when they first saw the trailer when they see it advertised elsewhere.

The simple text used in this title shot shows that it just wants you to focus on the text, suggesting they are telling a story. Possibly putting recapping the audience on the prequel, showing that it is related to this one.

It is relatively the same in this one too. The font used in these shots does not have a unnerving effect on the audience, it fits with the other attributes around it, recapping on the subject of the prequel.

The text suddenly changes when it gets into the main story of this movie. Emphasising ‘SAW’ and ‘PARANORMAL ACTIVITY’ to promote these films. The white contrasts against the grotty, decaying background.

‘THIS FALL’ suggests this film will be in the Autumn, but using fall makes it more simple to read and fits the genre of the film. The background which has little light coming from the top suggests a very closed area which indicates in the film that the family still cannot escape the evil presence.

The light in these title shots dims and allows a more distinct focus on the title, this suggests that events from the last film will be unveiled and in a way promotes the first film. This could make people who have not seen the prequel now watch it to get into the film series.

For viewers that have seen the first film they want to see how the events that finished the first film will play out and whether or not the family will find safety and a balance in the equilibrium.

The light comes back to highlight the title once again. The text is highlighted on the ‘S and I’ which makes it more interesting for the viewers and allows them to focus more on the title itself. The darkness closes in around it which also limits the amount that the audience can see. Also a hint of green is used in the background which also symbolises supernatural presences in this film.

This shot promotes the film, adding the producing and distributing organisations and their symbols. This also adds the website and another way of contacting in this. It also states ‘FRIDAY THE 13th ‘ which is a day associated with bad luck and supernatural happenings, further promoting the film and having a memorable day for people to go and watch it on.
