TITLE I FAMILY ENGAGEMENT

The Title I Family Engagement Department offers several free, year round programs to the community of Osceola County. Our focus is to help increase family educational success and parent leadership in the home and community. Using hands on interactive acitvites, parents are provided the tools needed to introduce their children to early literacy and establish a love for learning. Free programs include Footsteps2Brilliance, Mommy and Me activities (Ages 3-4) and Learn2Read (Ages 0-2). Footsteps2Brilliance is a free mobile application for all electronic devices that promotes early literacy. Mommy and Me and Learn2Read are parent training classes that develop a love for reading in infants and toddlers.

The Parent and Family Engagement Plan

(PFEP)The Parent and Family Engagement Plan is designed to provide parents with the information that is required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The ESSA sets guidelines that the Local Education Agency (LEA) or School District must follow at all Title I schools, in order to be in compliance with the law. This information is designed to provide better communication between parents and schools. The following is a summary of the School District of Osceola County’s PFEP.

Involvement of ParentsThe District Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is a group of parent representatives from District Title I public, charter, and private schools and members of the community. All parents are invited and encouraged to join through various outreach. The PAC committee provides input into the development of the LEA plan, the District Parent & Family Engagement Plan (PFEP), the Title I Part A application and how Title I funds will be spent for parent involvement. This committee along with the Director of Special Programs and Special Programs staff meets bi-monthly September-April. Items pertaining to Title I, such as but not limited to, the Title I Budget, PFEP expenditures, current efforts and review/revision of the PFEP are discussed with participants of the PAC. Coordination and Integration with other Federal Programs

Title I coordinates efforts with many other Federal Programs. These include but are not limited to, Title I Part C, Title I, Part D, Title II, Part A, Title III, Title IX, Part C, Title IV, Part A, Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Staff Development

The professional development activities the LEA will provide to help educate staff on the value and utility of contributions.

• Communication and working with parents

• Implementation and coordination of programs at school sites

• Provide research based information on the value of parental involvement

• Cultural awareness

• Building ties between parents and school

Communication and Accessibility

The PFEP will be summarized and sent to all Title I schools as a brochure to be sent home at the beginning of the year. To ensure that parents of every Title I student in Osceola County receive the PFEP brochure, it will be given to parents upon student enrollment. All written communication is sent home in English and Spanish by the School District. Accommodations for other languages are provided upon parent request.

PARTICIPACIÓN FAMILIAR DE TÍTULO IEl Departamento de Participación Familiar de Título I ofrece varios programas gratuitos durante todo el año para la comunidad del condado Osceola. El Plan De Participación de Padres Y Familia (PFEP)

El Plan de Participación para los Padres y las Familias (PFEP, por sus siglas en inglés) está diseñado para proveerle a los padres la información requerida por la Ley Cada Estudiante Triunfa (ESSA, por sus siglas en inglés). ESSA establece las normas que la Agencia Local de Educación (LEA, por sus siglas en inglés) o el Distrito Escolar deben seguir en todas las escuelas Título I, para poder cumplir con la ley. Esta información está diseñada para proveer una mejor comunicación entre padres y escuelas. A continuación, un resumen del PFEP del Distrito Escolar del Condado Osceola.

Participación de los Padres

El Comité Asesor de Padres del Distrito (PAC, por sus siglas en inglés) es un grupo de padres representantes de las escuelas públicas, charter y privadas Título I del Distrito y miembros de la comunidad. Todos los padres son invitados y animados a unirse a través de varias actividades. El Comité PAC provee opiniones en el desarrollo del plan LEA, el Plan de Participación para los Padres y las Familias (PFEP, por sus siglas en inglés), la solicitud de Título I, Parte A y cómo los fondos de Título I serán gastados para la participación de los padres. Este comité, junto a la Directora de Programas Especiales y el personal de Programas Especiales, se reúne cada dos meses desde septiembre a abril. Los artículos que pertenecen a Título I, tales como, pero no limitados a, el Presupuesto de Título I, gastos del PFEP, logros recientes y repaso/revisión del PFEP, son discutidos con los participantes de PAC. Título I coordina esfuerzos con muchos otros programas Federales. • Proveer información basada en estudios sobre el valor de la participación de los padres

• Concientización cultural

• Desarrollo de vínculos entre padres y escuelas

Comunicación y Accesibilidad

Al comienzo del año, todas las escuelas Título I recibirán un resumen del PFEP en un folleto para ser enviado al hogar. Para asegurarnos de que todos los estudiantes de Título I en el Condado de Osceola reciban el folleto del PFEP, los padres recibirán dicho folleto al matricular a sus hijos. Toda comunicación escrita es enviada al hogar en inglés y español por el Distrito Escolar. Se proveen versiones en otros idiomas cuando los padres lo solicitan.
