are an opportunity for me to sit down with our new President’s Team members and hear

their stories. I learn something new every time, and hear stories that touch my heart. These

extraordinary success.

In the last few months, it’s been my privilege to see more than 60,000 Distributors around

the world at our events in Buenos Aires, Caracas, Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo

and Singapore. At every event there were many first-time attendees because our brand

is more visible than ever before and people want to know who we are. They are asking

Some recycling programmes have already been introduced

in the U.S., but it’s only the start of a long-term plan. We

understand that becoming a truly green company is

difficult to achieve, and it’s a process that requires time and

commitment. The only way to get there is to focus on ways

we can improve.

Reduce

From paper recycling to facilitating vanpools and alternate

transportation options for employees, Herbalife is working

on several fronts to reduce waste. In addition to looking at

changing business practices—holding paperless meetings,

teleconferencing rather than traveling to meetings, powering

down computers and turning off lights at the end of the work

day—we’re encouraging small modifications in behaviour

that will cut down on the amount of waste we produce day

to day.

Reuse

Reusing items is another way to reduce waste. In fact, it’s

better than recycling because an item doesn’t need to be

reprocessed before it can be used again. To that end, we

now use cloth bags for our new business kits instead

of cardboard boxes. Office supplies, computer

equipment, shipping receptacles and other reusable

items are also enjoying a second life at Herbalife.

Recycle

Taking a product at the end of its useful life and

turning it into a raw material to make another product

is what recycling is all about. And it’s starting to

happen throughout Herbalife. In the U.S., light bulbs

are picked up and recycled every two weeks. A large

e-waste company recycles ink toners and other

computer equipment on a continual basis. Paper

goods, aluminum cans, glass and other materials

are routinely recycled. Even the Mark Hughes Café in

Herbalife Plaza is getting in on the act with an efficient

composting system.

An ongoing commitment

These steps are just the beginning—our commitment

to promoting green living is ongoing and evolving.

We now have multiple generations of Distributors, so

when we talk about a legacy for your children and your

children’s children, it’s already happening. Herbalife

is doing its part to make sure the world remains a

hospitable place for generations to come.

Several exciting events have taken place throughout the UK and Ireland in 2008 – and there are still some more to come! Let’s reflect on some of the events from the year and look ahead to what’s still in store…

2008 events UK and Ireland

One Life Live is an annual inspirational event for those people who feel it’s time

to make a change to their life. The event had 10 inspirational zones, offering

visitors thousands of ideas to help them change their life, along with free access

to over 150 free seminars and workshops. Visitors also had the chance to have

free 1-to-1 consultations with leading life coaches, business start-up advisors,

careers coaches, retirement experts and career break advisors.

One Life LiveOlympia, London, UK 29th February - 2nd March

Herbalife UK and Ireland made a triumphant return to the capital of the North for

the 2008 Spring Spectacular. And what an action-packed weekend it was! If you

attended then you would have benefited from:

• An electrifying, motivating atmosphere

The 25th Anniversary Promotion was announced on stage in the closing finale to

celebrate 25 years of Herbalife UK and Europe.

Guest speakers at this year’s event were:

• Nutrition Advisory Board Member, Ralph Rogers, Ph.D., FECSS, FACSM, FFSEM who gave an in-depth presentation on Inner Nutrition which detailed

your customers’ wellbeing.

• Herbalife’s Worldwide Outer Nutrition Product Trainer, Jacquie Carter. Jacquie – on her first European visit – provided fantastic training on Outer

Nutrition. Her expertise in Herbalife’s range of skin care, hair care, and body

care ensured all Distributors attending the event received the most up-to-date

product information and training available.

Herbalife continues to support this outstanding sports event in London as

Official Nutritional Partner for 2008.

Once again, Team Herbalife was well represented both in the relay events and in

the individual categories – with plenty of Herbalife supporters lining the sides of

the routes kitted out in Herbalife gear!

As well as Herbalife making an impact on the swimming, cycling and running

routes, visitors to the exhibition hall were introduced to Herbalife® products at

the branded stand in the main exhibition hall. Visitors to the stand were invited

to sample some products and find out more about Herbalife’s healthy nutrition

products and how they can support an active lifestyle. To celebrate the launch

of Herbalife’s newest product, H³O Pro™, giveaway bags contained a Product

Brochure, a H³O Pro™ sachet and a H³O Pro™ branded sports bottle - so visitors

had access to this exceptional product!

Nutritional supplementsQ. I am very careful about what I eat and always aim to eat a healthy, balanced and varied diet. Why should I take

a vitamin and mineral supplement?

A. Many of us, even if we think we have a good diet, consume inadequate amounts of certain vitamins, minerals and other nutrients each day. With today’s hectic lifestyles, we may not always be able to consume a healthy balanced diet as we often rely on processed foods which may be low in nutrients. Supplements such as multivitamins are not a substitute for a healthy diet but may be used for extra support to help avoid the negative effects of a nutrient deficiency.

Q. What does RDA mean and why should we strive to achieve these amounts each day?

A. Our bodies need a range of vitamins and minerals each day for our bodies to remain fully functional. RDA is a guideline that outlines the ‘recommended daily allowance’ which is the daily dietary intake level of a nutrient considered sufficient to meet the requirements of nearly all (97–98%) healthy individuals in each life-stage and gender group. We should aim to achieve the RDA of nutrients each day to avoid suffering the negative effects of a deficiency. You may also hear about the ‘recommended dietary intake’ (RDI).

Q. How do I know which supplements I should be taking?

A. Refer to our Core Nutrition Wheel on the opposite page, or undergo a free Wellness Evaluation and identify your specific wellness needs. In the mid 1990s, Eduardo Cuellar and Sylvia Anzola

were established professionals–he was a physician;

she was a psychologist–working and living in Bogota,

Colombia. They both loved their jobs and were highly

regarded in their respective fields, but they were

struggling to make ends meet. “Even as professionals,

we were not achieving our dreams,” Sylvia says.

Then, during a vacation on the Caribbean island of

Aruba, they met Alejandro Riviello, their sponsor, who

introduced them to Herbalife. “Our daughter had been

trying to control her weight,” Eduardo says. “We had

tried other nutritional plans, but nothing worked. So we

decided to try Herbalife.” After using Herbalife® weight-

management products, their daughter lost weight and

felt terrific. Soon after, the whole family was sampling

Herbalife products and sharing them with others.

A weekend trip to the 1997 Chicago Extravaganza

pushed the couple’s interest in the business to a new

level. “We thought it was going to be an academic

meeting,” Eduardo laughs, “but everybody was dancing

and having a good time.” Feeling inspired, Eduardo

and Sylvia returned to Colombia with a renewed sense

of enthusiasm for their business. Eight months later,

Sylvia left her job to become a full-time Herbalife

Independent Distributor.

For the next four years, Eduardo and Sylvia ran their

business in a “very simple and basic way,” staging

meetings in their living room. Eventually, they opened

an office and developed more formalised training

sessions. “We started out a system with just a few

Distributors,” Sylvia explains, “and that duplicated

because these people started to bring in more

prospects to join our organisation.”

Today, Eduardo and Sylvia live in a beautiful new home

and enjoy several vacations a year. Their daughter,

Maria Angelica, and son, Eduardo Jr., have now

become Distributors, joining the family business. “We

work as a team and that is definitely very valuable,”

Sylvia says. “Our future is filled with optimism and

enthusiasm, thanks to Herbalife.”

Wellness is the condition of good physical and mental health, especially

when maintained by proper diet and exercise habits. Meeting with current or

prospective customers to talk through their wellness needs is an effective and

personal way to learn about which products will suit them and is a step towards

building a strong Distributor-customer relationship.

As well as acting as an introduction to Herbalife as a

company, a Wellness Evaluation helps to identify your

prospective customer’s wellness concerns and provides

you with an insight into his or her current lifestyle.

This then sets you in a good position to be able to

recommend products to support his or her specifi c needs.

Once you have introduced our Core Nutrition product

range, suggest suitable products from the Targeted Nutrition range to match

each person’s specifi c needs. For example, older customers may be thinking

about heart health and fi tness enthusiasts may be keen to learn about our

Wellness Evaluation:identify your customers’ specifi c wellness needs

Retailing

Use the Wellness Evaluation Questionnaire to fi nd out details about your

customer’s current eating habits, exercise programme and any specifi c wellness

concerns he or she may have. It may be a good idea to do this again after a few

months as your customer’s wellness needs may have changed over time due to

any health improvements or lifestyle changes, or other factors. Revisiting these

individual wellness needs could be an effective way of introducing your customer

to products he or she has not tried before.

Recruiting

Your retail customers who have already incorporated Herbalife® products into

their daily lives will no doubt be experiencing some positive product results

and would be keen to help others to do the same. These people make ideal

targets for the Herbalife Business Opportunity! Useful tools for recruiting are the

Here is a picture of myself and some

fellow Distributors in Aberdeenshire

attending a recent event; we took part

in the 3-mile charity run for Sport Relief

and had a great day! I am the woman

with short dark hair in the front row with

my thumbs up. I am also competing in

the London Triathlon this year and my

goal is to go to raise money for the NCH,

the children’s charity.

My training sessions total a minimum

of three hours each week – a mixture

of running, walking, swimming and

cycling. This will be my first whole

from Turkey. I graduated as a physical

education teacher and volleyball trainer

and I was a professional beach volleyball

The 2008 HFF Humanitarian Award was presented to

Thomas Hayes during the annual Mark Hughes Bonus

Awards Ceremony in Singapore on March 16.

Tom is a U.S.-based President’s Team member who lives

with his wife, Kaitlyn, in Connecticut. He was selected as

this year’s honoree because of his selfless dedication to

providing both financial and volunteer support to worthy

organisations.

Every weekend, Tom and Kaitlyn commute to Harlem, N.Y.,

to volunteer at the Terrence Cardinal Cooke Health Center

(TCCHC) and brighten the days of patients that are too ill or

disabled to leave the centre. The only facility of its kind in

New York State, the TCCHC is particularly close to Tom’s

heart, as it provides a home and dignified lifestyle for those

living with chronic illnesses, including the elderly, severely

disabled children and people with AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease,

Huntington’s disease or kidney failure.

As with all HFF Humanitarian Award recipients, HFF will

make a donation of $10,000 to a charity of Tom’s choice.
