1. Bending at the hips, flex the patient’s knees slightly.

2. Push one hand as far as possible under the shoulders and the other as far as possible under the thighs.

3. Raise the patient slightly and draw him/her toward you. Gradually turning his/her body away from you, until it rests on the side.
