May 2011 National Chevy AssociationTM 1

Hi from Nat’l. Chevy, Still cold here in Minnesota in case you’re thinking it must be getting better here. This seems to be the winter that won’t go away as it is almost the end of March and we’re getting another 7-10” of snow as I write this. At this point I’m wondering if we are going to have a cool summer. Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad as I don’t tolerate the hat and humidity well anymore. We’re keeping pretty busy around here. People are working on their cars as the weather warms up around the country. Hopefully I have finished the last two pages of the catalog. All other pages are at the printer for what we hope will be final cor-rections and the rest of the process can begin. We’ll send out new catalogs to all as soon as they’re ready. Just a reminder if you are planning to attend “Back to the 50’s” or the Iola show and need parts - we can bring them for you and save you some shipping fees. Just be sure to let us know a couple of weeks in advance so we can get them loaded with the rest of the stuff we bring. Thanks for the articles for the newsletter that have been coming in. I could use a lot more, but appreciate the help you’re giving me. I’m looking forward to hearing from you as you get your cars done and send in some photos of them. ‘Til next time......

Cover Car

Dear Editors:

I hope that your readers would like to hear what a batch of blood, sweat, tears and a couple stacks of Benjamin Franklins can accomplish. This is “Estelle.” She is a 1954 Chevy BelAir that I inherited following the passing of my father-in-law nearly two years ago, (his name is stenciled on the valve cover) from his wife, Estelle, the car’s name-sake. Included are the before and after photos as work progressed with her after she was transported from Georgia to Houston via a 15+ hour trailer ride. She has her original motor, a new multi-coat of diamond black and “Escalade” mother of pearl, new seats, headliner, door panels, visors and Pioneer stereo

system with 400 watt amp! We’re very proud of her! And my mother-in-law says that she is sure that her husband smiles as he views her from above. Please do me the favor of allowing me to share with her my gratitude for her gift to me.

Thank you in advance,Gregory Tennessee & “Estelle”

P.S. Thanks to Dominic in sales. He’s the guy that’s been helping me with parts over the past year to get this baby rolling. He’s definitely an asset to the com-pany!!!

CARS FOR SALE

FOR SALE — 1953 Sedan Delivery rescued from crushing. Guessing it was modified with a Nova drive train (small block, turbo 350, 10 bolt). I think it was a Bell Telephone truck. The rack, lights, switches, power brake booster (2), floor shifter all add to a real old rat rod. Some work has been done to it - front brake drums, bearing rear springs, U bolts, new fuel tank and electric fuel pump. $4500. Jim Stuit, IA (563) 522-2568
