Vision Alert LEDs

The warning and lighting market is highly competitive and with the added

pressures of driving costs down, many manufacturers are turning to

cheaper Asian imports.

Vision Alert only use Generation III LEDs in their lightbars, as these

solid-state light sources provide the maximum efficiency, power, durability

and reliability that you would expect from a Vision Alert lightbar. Working

closely with customers, Vision Alert’s in-house design engineers are able

to build bespoke LED lightbars and produce practical, innovative solutions

to safety on and off the road.

Unlike standard LEDs, Vision Alert’s OSRAM Platinum DRAGON LEDs:

• are up to 40 times brighter

• have a long life of up to 35,000 hours of operation at a minimum of

70% lumen output

• contain no epoxy, which is prone to optical decay over time.

• have a toughened lens that not only protects but utilises optics for

enhanced light output

LEDs are extremely reliable. They have no moving parts, no filament

to shake loose or burn out and no thin glass lens to shatter. Light arrays

are either circuit board mounted or are encapsulated in an epoxy that

seals them against moisture, vibration and damage.

LEDs emit an intense single coloured light, unlike incandescent light

sources that emit a continuous spectrum. Light output is not reduced as

no filter is needed to produce coloured light.

LEDs require very little current to operate, 1/8 of the power of an

incandescent bulb, and convert 30% directly into light making them

extremely efficient light sources. Very little heat is generated and all light

produced is in the visible spectrum. LEDs release heat behind the light

source into a heatsink, which is a metal surface attached to the LED.

The heat is transferred into this heatsink and then into the air. White

LEDs now reach efficacies up to 40-100 lm/W.

LEDs trigger very rapidly, making their on and off functions

instantaneous – essential for warning and safety lighting and increasing

stopping distances when used as a stop/tail indicator.

LEDs look great and are now used in a wide range of different

applications from alarm clocks and TVs to traffic lights and headlamps.

Generation III LEDs are designed to operate at high power for much

longer than Generation I and II LEDs and are now so powerful that far

fewer LED heads are needed to provide the same light output.

The 60 Series Halo™ Lightbar uses the very brightest OSRAM Platinum DRAGON LEDs, which are up to 40 times brighter than standard LEDs, together with the popular 60 series chassis. The unique and distinctive Halo™ ring modules are designed to maximise 360° light output. Available in both clear lens with ECE Reg65 certification for blue and amber and standard coloured lens versions, Vision Alert’s new Halo™ modules are running rings around the competition. The 60 Series Halo™ lightbars are customisable with linear, ring and stop/tail indicator LED modules for front and rear applications, making the Halo™ Lightbar range the most versatile LED solution VA has produced.
