5.2. :APOGEE Prepress configuration

JDF files from Preps can be used in :Apogee Prepress in 2 ways, depending on the system license.

With :Apogee Integrate, you can set the Impose Task Processor to ‘From input’ and import the output JDF

file, which we will create in the next chapters, in the JDF Import Taskprocessor.

In this way the content files are automatically imported as well and automatically placed in the correct

runlist positions.

With :Apogee Manage (and also :Apogee Integrate), you can set the Impose Task Processor to ‘From file’

and browse to the output JDF file which we will create in the next chapters.

In this way you can’t place the content files in Preps but you need to place them manually in the correct

runlist positions in :Apogee.

6. Job creation in Preps

6.1. Technical Terms

A ‘Job’ contains all settings for a specific job. Every job is based on Pages and Signatures.

Every ‘Signature’ selected in a job is part of a ‘Template’. These templates are saved in the default Preps

‘Templates’ folder.

The ‘Marks’ that are used on the signatures are saved in the default Preps ‘Marks’ folder.

A ‘Signature’ contains a scheme that is made up with an ‘Imposition’ or with ‘Independent Pages’.

8. Output to JDF

Save the ‘JDF’ on a shared or mounted location which is accessible by the :APOGEE Prepress server.

Note: Preps generates at the root a ‘JDF’ file and a ‘JDFMarksFlats’ folder. This folder contains a ‘PDF’ file

with the marks inside. The content files remain on the shared or mounted location.

Depending on the license, import these files in the JDFImport Task Processor or select the JDF file in the

Impose Task Processor.
