Mary the queen Of Scotland was Elisabeth queen of England's cousin. They both cared deeply for each other so when Mary abandoned her role as queen in fear of being killed by her own people she came to Elisabeth for help it was a great shock when shortly after she was imprisoned.

Mary queen of scots was imprisoned because she was Catholic and lots of people wanted England to be ruled by a catholic queen. Once Elisabeth figured this out she made sure Mary was imprisoned at once. Many people tried and risked everything to rescue her but failed and got executed she even had people from Spain try to get her out. Many people sent her letters in cipher but since she was not allowed to receive letters they would hide them in the beer crates delivered to her.

When Mary Queen of Scotland was imprisoned, everyone thought that she would just been thrown in the prison tower but it turns out she was put in a house (nothing compared to her castle) and she had marvelous living accommodations such as beer, wine, a nice bed, comfy furniture, lots of books and a lot of clean expensive gowns. But she was imprisoned so they made her stay not all worth while even if she was a queen. When her slaves would come to serve a duty she was not allowed to talk to them incase she was planning an escape and she was not allowed to receive letters or any conversation with people outside the house.
