As we kick off Thinking of You week 2019, we will be posting on social media ideas for when you might send a Thinking of You Card and what you might say. We’ll post specific examples of cards and a few words from the inside for each situation listed, focusing on one situation a week, and elicit responses, which could be posts, photos of videos, from followers about cards that they have sent or received in a similar situation, what they have said, how the cards made them feel. Using @thinkingofyouweekusa, #thinkingofyouweek, #sendacarddeliverasmile, #cardstories we will build an even stronger following for the 2019 campaign.

Page 2: To publishers · Best Friend’s Day” (June 8) 26. I send birthday cards to the children of my friends but also to the pets of my friends who consider those their “children.”

1. Send a note to someone who may be feeling alone, could be an older person, an unexpected card in the mailbox can brighten a person’s day.

2. If you find a quote on a card that reminds you of a friend – send it to them, with the simplest message: “this made me think of you!”

3. Celebrate “new” milestones in your friends’ lives – a promotion, a new job, leaving a job – a new home, it’s always fun to get mail at your new address, besides all the bills.

4. A thank you for your friendship after a fun night out with friends, or even a lunch.

5. Moms always love mail, as do Dads – and siblings.

6. Write your oldest friend. Write your newest friend. Each make your life that much richer. There are so many friendship cards out there.

7. Share a recipe or a book that makes you think of someone. You could simply say “I made this recipe/read this book and thought you might like it”.

8. A shared memory. Maybe you come across an old photo and write to say “I came across photos of the time we………That was so much fun!”

9. Tell someone that you see regularly that they make a difference in your life. It could be a co-worker, Starbucks barista.

10. Send a card to friend or family member just to catch up?

11. Acknowledge an unexpected turn in life – might be good or bad.

12. I send cards when I am thinking of a friend or loved one and just want to check in! A friend went on a first date two weeks ago? I sent a card to let her know that I hope that the date went well!

13. I send a card to my mom to make her smile and so that she knows I love her.

14. I send a card to my niece and nephew and ask them how school is going.

15. I will send a card to someone when I have a photo of them/us I love and want them to have. I’ll write up something for them and provide the photo.

16. Last week a few of my friends decided to come visit – I sent them cards telling them how I excited I am about this and am looking forward to summer!

17. I hadn’t seen a friend in a long time, but we recently got dinner. I sent her a card to remind her that even though we don’t see one another often, I still care and look forward to the times I do see her.

18. People send more sympathy cards than for almost any other occasion. When someone dies a text or email of support just doesn’t do the trick; a card is much more personal. But how often do we think to send another card in the following months. Those cards can be even more appreciated by the recipient who is still feeling the loss. It might just be a simple “Hello, I think of you often and wonder how you are doing. Remember I am here if you ever want to chat or meet for a coffee”.

19. A few of my friends are getting engaged – I always send an engagement card to the couple and a card to my friend to let them know I am excited for them!

20. A co-worker of mine has gone above and beyond lately – I sent them a card in the mail to thank them for their hard work and for being amazing.

21. I send cards after I’ve had great stays at hotels to let the staff know they did a wonderful job and helped make my visit even more memorable.

22. I send “Thank You” cards to restaurants after they’ve gone above and beyond to make a meal extra-special.

23. I sent a card to my old coworker to let her know she’s still my “work BFF” even though we don’t work together anymore.

24. I send thank-you cards to friends who host brunches, book club meetings, and more.

25. I send cards to friends on silly holidays like “National High Five Day” (April 18) and “National Best Friend’s Day” (June 8)

26. I send birthday cards to the children of my friends but also to the pets of my friends who consider those their “children.”

27. I always give my boss a card on boss’ day but send cards to old bosses on that day as well.

28. I send thank-you cards to friends/colleagues who have been references and helped me secure a new job.

29. Send a card of support to a new mom or dad.

30. Congratulate a child on an achievement or their first day of school.

31. Send a card from your pet. “I woof you”, “You’re purr-fect”.
