1. GENERAL OVERVIEW
Datalogic Automation has the pleasure to announce the availability of the new industrial
laser scanner DS2400N Subzero model.
With the DS2400N Subzero Datalogic Automation extends its product portfolio in low
temperature identification markets and applications. Already available on the market is
the DS4800 Subzero, CBX100LT. In addition to the DS2400N, the BM100 has been
updated to operate to the same temperature ranges as the SUBZERO DS2400N,
DS4800N and CBX100LT.

2. FEATURES & BENEFITS
The DS2400N Subzero is a new model inside the 2000 Series, designed to extend the
application range of the standard DS2400 laser scanners thanks to its capability to
operate to a low temperature environments (up to -35 °C).
This new model shares the same main characteristics and benefits of the DS2400N
Linear model.
INTEGRATED HEATING
DS2400 Subzero is equipped with an efficient internal heating system which constantly
monitors and automatically controls internal temperature, heating only the necessary
temperature-sensitive components. Using this technology, the temperature-sensitive
components are within their designed operating range in cold external environments.
Because only the temperature-sensitive components are heated, versus heating the
entire unit, the heating design consumes less power.
The integrated heating system is composed of the housing heater to guarantee the
correct working of the reader in the overall operating temperature range.
The heating system is installed and tested at the factory: the user cannot install it on
site.

OPERATING MODE
When the 24 VDC supply voltage is applied to the DS2400ZN Subzero, a temperature
switch first connects the heating system to electrical power.
During the warm-up phase (approximately 20 minutes), when the inside temperature
rises above 0°C the temperature switch enables the power supply for the reader. This is
followed by the start-up of the device and the changeover to normal reading mode.
When the inside operating temperature is stabilized another temperature switch turns
the housing heater off and, if necessary, reactivates it (if the inside temperature drops
below a safety threshold). The reading mode is not interrupted during this phase.

DEDICATED CONNECTION BOX
CBX100LT Subzero is the connection box version dedicated to -35°C applications, and
you can easily recognized it because of the plastic case Yellow color.
CBX100LT Subzero is different respect Standard CBX100 because of the type of plastic
material, but it is exactly equivalent in term of mechanical dimensions and connectivity.
The backup module accessory, BM100, for CBX Line has been updated for Low
Temperature environment and can be applied out of their standard temperature range
(0° to 50° C).
For 2013, the excess inventory of the BM100 (old version) will not be low
temperature compliant. Customers must purchase the CBX100LT ALL IN ONE, which
will contain the low temperature version of the BM100.

4. TARGET MARKETS AND APPLICATIONS
DS2400N Subzero model extends the DS2400N field of use, offering an excellent
solutions for Food Industry, in the sub-segment of Freezer Industry, where Cold
Storage and Temperature Controlled Room applications requires Auto-ID solutions.
It is a fact that the Freezer Industry is growing, driven by consumer demand for
products that ease the effects of increasingly busy lifestyles and the consequent
constraints on food preparation and shopping time.
Typical food involved in Freezer Industry are: meat, fish, convenience food, pizza, green
vegetable, Ice cream, seafood, others.
The freezer industry sector is subjected to many standards and regulations, imposed by
the legislator and mass distribution. There are many rules linked to quality, delivery
times, costs and respect of the traceability standards imposed by mass distribution on
their suppliers.

5.2 SICK – CLV630 + External Heating
The Sick solution is based on external heating mounted at production stage outside the body.
This solution is applied to CLV630, CLV640, CLV650.
The external heating has limited performance, limited efficiency and increases overall
dimension of the reader.
The heating is connected by a separate cable to the supply voltage. Connection box is
necessary in order to manage wiring and connection. Expensive solution.

6. PRODUCT AVAILABILITY
6.1 ORDER INFORMATION & AVAILABILITY
DS2400 Subzero will be available for sales starting from June 1st, 2013, and from that
time on purchase orders can be entered in SAP system and processed according the
standard procedures.
Standard Service Level of DS2400N Subzero is 6 weeks. During the start up phase
Service Level might be longer. As usual delivery date will be confirmed at the time of PO.
