• Islamic references from Qur’an and Ahadith are encouraged. When using them please use the English

translation.

• Entries should NOT exceed the word limit specified for their age group.

• Participants MUST include a Title page including: topic chosen, your full name, age, address, phone and

school. Entries must be written by a single person, be an original piece and be typed.

• To be noted upon entry of submission participants give Mercy Mission and all its affiliates full consent to edit

and publish their works.

Three important lessons in the Quran and how would you practise them in

your life.

Write about the reasons Allah gave victory and honour to the Muslims, from

any chosen historical period. (Conquest of Makkah, Constantinople,

Jerusalem. Muslim Spain etc.) How could we implement them today?

Allah SWT tells us: “And the life of this world is nothing but play (illusion) and amusement. (6:32) Write about 3 aspects of this world that distract

you from the remembrance of Allah and how you could overcome them?

Islam teaches us to be balanced in all aspects of our lives; to fulfill our duties

in both dunya and aakhira. Allah SWT says: “We have made you a justly balanced community.” (2:143) Describe an “Ummatun Wasat” - A Moderate

Nation. Write about your understanding of achieving this balance in your life.

The Prophet SAW said: “Islam began as a something strange and it will return to being strange, so blessed are the strangers.” (Sahih Muslim 145). Describe how this hadith is relevant to our times and what aspects of the

religion have become that “something strange” to practise and follow. What

motivations allow you to continue to practise?
